A truly Rugged Speaker with unbelievable sound quality
This is truly an amazing piece of tech. I was looking at the UE boom, which in itself is not a bad speaker and has some great features such as the software equaliser, the ability to use in stereo, the built in tripod mount and its very stylish looks. However, i saw a review on a US web site that compared the UE Boom to the Fugoo and I was intrigued straight away. You cannot buy the Fugoo in the UK so I contacted Fugoo who responded immediately and suggested that I purchase from Amazon. So I took a punt based upon the Fugoo web site and some of the reviews, as well as the plethora of YouTube "non-commercial" reviews. Amazon did a great job, and the Fugoo was with me in 7 days with just the normal postage and package options. When it arriver, I was marginally disappointed with the packaging as it didn't seem as "apple-esque" as the UE Boom. However once unpacked, the firmware flashed to allow the switching to loud mode, I was no longer disappointed. What a great device with a really rich and clear sound. I was able to connect to three devices very quickly with no issues. I also tried it as a speaker phone with my iPhone 5S and this worked a treat.I was also able to compare side by side with my friend's UE boom and I am so pleased that I purchased the Fugoo. The Fugoo looks and is rugged, I have soaked mine, thrown it across a room, dropped it on a rocky beach, used it in the shower and it looks as new. The sound is so much brighter then the Boom - the boom made acoustic guitar sound dull and very muffled, and although the bass on the boom seemed to have more thump, overall the Fugoo sounds more natural. The Fugoo has much better capability with mid range, treble and is much clearer on the vocals. We tried a number of tunes from Metal, acoustic, some classical and vocal stuff and the Fugoo wins out.So - in summary, the Fugoo is a grey little speaker, its tough, waterproof and has a battery that lasts forever. I have still to charge mine, from the first charge on purchase. I use it all the time as a conference facility for the phone, and it works well with Siri. OK there isn't the software to control it, and you need to buy an accessory to tripod mount it, BUT, these are small considerations when its high quality sound you are looking for in a package that will survive with you on trips in the great outdoors,Well done to Fugoo - and lets hope they continue with their innovation.

March 23, 2014 - My Review of the Fugoo Tough Portable Bluetooth Speaker
Fugoo Tough Wireless Bluetooth (Black/Silver)This definitely is a SOLIDLY-BUILT portable bluetooth speaker. My first impression was the packaging ... sturdy well designed, eye-catching box; definitely stands-out beautifully. The acrylic cover show-casing the speaker makes a classy statement "Quality". The Fugoo Tough eye-catching black and silver color says, "See Me, Hear Me"; an unmistakeable statement of "Confidence". Sure it is small; and yet packs an impressive 360 degree audio sound. I received my Fugoo Tough bluetooth speaker March 22, 2014. The speaker comes with a simplistically well-designed diagram outlining speaker features. However, you will have to go to Fugoo's website to read/download the user manual for specifics. I was surprised I did not find a user manual in the packaging, but it appears this is the future to read/download the user guide/manual.I took the time to review the diagram that came in the packaging; and also went to Fugoo's website and download the user manual to my laptop. Reading both the diagram and user guide definitely helped me to understand the pair method (pretty-much easy setup). The contents of the Fugoo Tough packaging are neatly layer-out and easily identified. They are listed in the user manual. The following is my first-hand experience with this speaker:Bluetooth connection is easily accomplished with my devices:a. Less-than-minute - MacBook Pro Retinab. Less-than-minute - iPad Airc. Less-than-minute - iPhone 5SNow here is my experience with listening to a spectrum of music via my iPad:a. Rock - Clear and rockin'b. Metal - Clear and heavy rockin'g. Pop - Clear and dance-like-you-don-t carec. Country - Clear and voice quality excellentd. Electronic Beats - Clear and sound effects outstandinge. Jazz - Clear and hear individually played instrumentalsf. Classical - Clear and hear individually played instrumentalsThere are many portable bluetooth speakers to choose from and I did research several speakers based on forums I read and youtube reviews. I choose Fugoo Tough for its:a. Out-Door-Abilityb. Size - Easily held in handc. Weight - Solid-weight feeld. Looks - Solid little packagee. 360 spacial performance soundf. Versatility - (speaker for all my devices)g. Bluetooth - Easily connected with my Apple devicesI do hear the hype about portable bluetooth speakers and I have read forums by customers and professional critics about sound quality of these pint-size portable bluetooth speakers. Yes, any device pushed to its limit will not continuously perform well beyond its engineered design. With that said, anyone who buys into these small "Light-Weight" or "Solidly-Built" bluetooth speakers should realize they will not get the same loud sound volume as in the bigger portable bluetooth speakers; or else they would have bought bigger portable bluetooth speakers. Given todays technology, speakers of the future will still be considered expensive, but again that is marketing the supply and demand of who controls the technology and the customers appetite for more.In conclusion, Fugoo represents its product well in looks and operability. For me, I knew I bought into an expensively small speaker; but I wanted a small, sturdy, solidly-built portable bluetooth speaker and I found it in Fugoo Tough. Also, all the features and versatility was a plus. I use this speaker for all my apple devices at home and I like the idea of "Solidly-Built-Portability" for on-the-go. I am an outdoors person and this speaker feels, "Tough-Enough" to-go biking, camping, picnicking, or just for outing in general (I will use this speaker for outdoors activities). I give this Fugoo Tough portable bluetooth speaker 5 stars for good looks, solid-built, and out-door-ability. Last of all, there are three models to choose from. And these speakers can be dressed-up with accessories for various looks, functionality, and portability. Go to Fugoo's website to view these accessories.

Rugged Bluetooth Wireless Go NOWHERE Speaker
I was highly disappointed with this speaker. It was a complete let down. My main frustration with this product stems from terrible bluetooth capability. It's just awful! I couldn't walk more than 10 ft away before the bluetooth connection started to cutout. I have had it for three weeks now and the bluetooth capability has just worsen. I will have my phone directly next to the speaker and the bluetooth will still cutout! My next complaints are more of a personal opinion, the buttons are difficult to reach. It was built a little oddly. The power and bluetooth buttons are so small and hidden almost. Each time I want to turn it on I have to stand it up (so its vertical). This is the only way I can reach the power and bluetooth button. Lastly, the noise it makes with the speaker is powering on or off is too loud and this is my personal opinion. I like listening to music in the morning and in the evening. I live in apartments so I typically keep the music a little low but, the power on/off noise is too loud (sometimes louder than my own music). There are a couple of things I did like about this speaker. The sound is very clear and almost 360 degrees. I live in a small apartment but if I have the speaker (and my phone directly next to it) I could hear my music from every room clearly without increasing the sound. The battery power on this speaker is impressive, I've used it for a total of 14 days for roughly 4-6 hours at a time and have only charged it once. Finally, I like how sturdy it feels and looks. In summation, if you don't want a bluetooth speaker and are just looking for speaker adapter for your phone this is the product for you.In full disclosure, I disliked this product so much that I am returning it.
