Nope not sturdy enough it's like foam, your rope will get caught. For a jump roam matt I reccomend leather or something slippery like a yoga mat

Just opened my package today and the smell is horrendous. How do I get rid of this really bad smell?

I have ordered these several times and have not had a smell issue. If its the rubber smell you refer to once they are hanging it goes away.Not that it smells bad to me.
