Science Diet Oral Care is the best maintenance food for healthy pets, since it provides the superior nutrition of Science Diet, plus the benefit of cleaning teeth and freshening breath with every bite. The difference in efficacy between Prescription Diet t/d and Science Diet Oral Care is related to the size of the kibble. Prescription Diet t/d has a larger kibble, which increases chewing time and therefore the mechanical cleaning action which results in the superior reduction in buildup of stain, plaque, tartar & reduction of gingivitis. I used them for years until they ran out of 8 1/2 lb bags, then I switched to another provider recommended by my vet. My vet did say this other provider was much easier to approve than through amazon.
