Great tasting coffee, good prices, and recyclable/compostable!
My husband is the coffee drinker and is particular about what he likes and at a low price without buying coffee at the expensive per cup popular coffee shops these days. This one is his favorite flavor, a good price and is recyclable/compostable! I have bought this for him for several years and he loves it!

How Do You Analyze Coffee?
These fit perfectly into my Cuizinart SS-780 Keurig type brewer and this was my first time trying both Fog Chaser and the "earth friendly solution" cup, which as others have mentioned is a cross between a K-cup and a pod. I have to say that I'm in love with both! I love the fact there there is less plastic and waste for this hybrid cup. I love the fact that the first cup tastes just as good as the 12th, since I roll the top over on the plastic bag they are in, and then put a clip on it.Since coffee beans have a lot of "oil" in them, and it's this coffee bean oil that can really alter the taste of the coffee as it ages and/or if it goes rancid. Coffee tastes best the closer it is brewed to the roasting it, and I have noticed a difference between my k-cups that are newer, verses the ones that are much older; I like a huge selection for my daily coffee but I have scaled back a lot for this reason, taste is a HUGE factor for me and my coffee love! So the next logical question is how does this taste? As I mentioned, I like a variety of coffee: bold, mild, flavored, etc., and again as I've also said, I love this coffee, so I wondered what I could add to most of the reviews here? I decided I could explain how coffee is analyzed:Acidity: This is what you taste at the tip of your tongue, a pleasant sharp taste or bite in the mouth. A 'snap' or 'tingle', the darker the roast, the less acidity in the coffee. This isn't to be confused with bitterness The 3 options are "desirable", "sour" and "process".Body: The weight of the coffee physically in the mouth. Rich, full feeling at the back of the palate. Body tends to increase in the darker roasts.Aroma: The scentFinish: aftertaste that lingersFlavour: Is it memorable, well balanced, woody, caramel, chocolaty, fragrant, fruity, ripe, sweet, almondy, delicate, piquant, etc.Of course, there is a lot more to coffee, because coffee is greatly influenced by the soil and conditions that it is grown in, and some general statements about where a coffee is grown are:South/Central Americas = medium body/medium acidityAfrica = low body/high acidityIndonesia = high body/low acidityThere is single origin bean coffee, but also blended, using multiple types of beans grown in different areas. Different coffee beans are blended with other coffee beans, in order to bring out the best or chosen flavors of the end coffee. Another factor is how it is roasted, because roasting changes the chemical and physical properties of the beans into caramelized and aromatic coffee. Another factor is the roasting temperature, as well as how long it is roasted, in order to bring out the best flavors of the coffee. You can't just simply dark roast anything, because it may turn out very bitter. In general, the less roasting, the more you taste the conditions that the beans were grown in and it flavors that this process produced. It also stands to reason that the more the coffee is roasted, the more you can taste the roasted flavor (called carbon), much like roasting marshmallows, you've got very burned (and very burned flavor) down to where the flame has hardly touched it, leaving most of the original flavor of the marshmallow. That said, Fog Chaser is a blend of high-grown Central and South American coffees that are full city roasted (meaning darker roasted), medium bodied (full bodied means that you taste it equally in the different taste areas of the tongue: sweet, salty, sour or bitter) and acidic (much like having a soda with caffeine, versus the same caffeine free, it's that bite that gets your attention), yet it is also smooth, with little bitter aftertaste, which isn't to say that you won't taste it after drinking the coffee, but that it doesn't leave a bitter taste in your mouth. This is a bold coffee, that is rich (the intensity that indicates the gases and vapors which have an interesting fullness) and fresh (meaning vivid and aromatic). This coffee has easily taken 1st place in my favorites list!

Coffee, without the plastic!
If you are looking to stay away from plastic k-cups (contain micro-plastics!) these may be a good option for you. I like dark coffee, and these pods did a good job for a strong, smooth cup of coffee. It smells great when brewing and was happy to find that they taste decent too. They are a little pricey, but in looking for pods without plastic, there is not a big selection.

You Need This Coffee
This coffee is Certified Swiss Water Process. Other decaf coffees use Methylene Chloride to decaffeinate their coffee which is a paint stripper that causes cancer. Other decaf coffees use Ethyl Acetate which is nail polish remover. San Francisco Bay Coffee cares about their customers. They also use eco pods which have a plant based ring and are compostable. So, you're not running your coffee through chemical plastic cups that contain Microplastics and EDCs which cause health problems. Other companies care about money and not quality. I am a Lifetime Customer and I will continue to support a business who is doing the right thing and not poisoning their customers. I'm so glad I did the research and found this wonderful company, or I would have quit coffee altogether. It's the first cup of coffee I've had that is chemical free and you can actually taste the coffee and not the chemicals. Thank you for providing a great decaf coffee! I'm spreading the word.
