Garage Door Chain Hoist - Jr Jackshaft 4:1 Reduced Drive -1" (Shaft Mount)

Easy Peasy: I didn't have a lot of shaft beyond the cable spool so I started to slide the unit onto the shaft , aligned the sprockets and roller chain,slid the sprocket onto the shaft along with the unit until "almost" contact with the cable spool, fed the hand chain into the unit ,tightened the setscrews of the sprocket onto the shaft, attached the angle bracket from wall to unit. DONE. no collars , no key

I have a 12' wide x 14' tall overhead door in an outbuilding. I could barely get it opened but didn't want to spend $300 or more for an electric opener. I only need to open the door occasionally and don't park a car within so this seemed like a good solution and it was. There are no instructions (it doesn't really need them) but I found a good youtube video showing installing this same hoist. It was quite simple and took me about 30 minutes to install and makes opening the door very easy. My 1" bar didn't have a keyway but it held tight on the bar with no issue. I only bought one (I have two doors) and wanted to try it first. I will buy the second asap. The only "issue" to make sure of is there needs to be about 6" of overhang or extra length sticking out from the head bar to attach the hoist. If you don't have that you could have an issue. I had to install mine on the opposite side than what I wanted because the side I wanted didn't have much to install it on. Excellent solution. Now I open a very heavy door with two fingers.

I recently built a new shop, and did not have door openers installed. The garage doors worked very well but were hard to open and get to stay up or in a set position. This chain fall opener was very easy to install, anyone with a few handyman skills can install it in less than a hour. Another good feature is this door opener will work on almost any size of door as long as the door has a 1 inch solid rod shaft with key way. Once installed it takes the same effort to open my 14’X14’ door as my 10’X10’ door and I’m sure it would work on much larger doors. So no expensive wiring, no electric eyes, anyone big or small can operate, and you don’t have to be a professional to install. The only downside is you do have to get out of the truck to go inside to operate.

I have a 12’ x 13’ overhead shop door. It worked great. I do advise checking to make sure your garage door spring shaft is long enough. I didn’t have enough shaft left to install out of the box. Had to have a new shaft installed prior to installing this.

Terrible workmanship. See picture. It messed up our garage door and when we returned they deducted 20% restocking and insisted it wasn't defective and said we didn't return all the parts. It does not come with any instructions or part list so we had no idea we were missing parts and then were accussed of keeping parts. Why the hell would we keep parts forr something we were returning. Ordered 2 of these at different times, one was made in Canada the other was made in China ,Both worked ok,Care must be taken when rolling the door all the way up, need to help starting down with the pull down rope because the cables will slack off until you get the weight off the door on the cables.Good product, I have 12x14 doors

This simple grauge chain hoist opener is expensive for what it really is, but it is fairly easy to install, and works great, if u don't need or can't find an electric opener that will work, this is a good alternative.
