Geo F Trumper Coral Skin Food Pre and Post Shave Gel (100 ml)

For years I often used Geo F Trumper Coral Skin Food but as an earlier review similarly mentioned, a dropped bottle exploded on the bathroom floor with disastrous results and I never took to replacing it.I've since revisited it and it is the same as always, a truly wonderful rose scented balm that looks like pink liquid pearl in a bottle. It's a real treat for the senses and is one of those little luxuries that makes a big difference to a shave.I use it post shave and find that it instantly smooths and calms my skin. I have found it unusual compared to other products I've used in the past, in that it gives a great clarity to your complexion and makes your skin look and feel great for hours after.The packaging has an old fashioned touch with gold foiling and a gold lid. A plus for me - it looks great on a shelf. However, it is somewhat let down by the brittle plastic which does cheapen the look somewhat. A glass bottle would go a long way in a premium product such as this to elevate it.Despite this, it is a solid five star review from me - the product itself is unlike any other and in addition, it is made in the UK.

This is the best aftershave lotion I've ever used. I find that oil-based moisture creams tend to clog my pores and make my skin break out in spots, so I decided to try this after reading so many positive reviews on shaving forums. Trumper's Skin Food is a glycerine-based skin lotion with a slick, runny gel texture. I find it best to apply it to my face and neck directly after shaving and while the skin is still damp; applying it to dry skin can leave your face feeling a bit sticky. Regardless, this instantly soothes any rawness and calms redness. The 'coral' scent isn't particularly manly, but I like it because it brings me right back to my childhood every time I use it. It smells like those liquid bottles of party bubbles you used to get as a kid! The scent hardly lasts at all, anyway, so you can apply your own cologne afterwards. My skin is super supple and moisturised after using this, in a way that greasy moisturisers could never do. Well worth the purchase.

Unlike the sandalwood flavour Skin Food, this cream has a much sharper sent, but more problematic is the burning and irritation I experienced after using it. This may of course just be me, but something to take into consideration if you suffer with sensitive skin.

I'm not slating the product, I'm just not a great fan of post shave lotions and potions.Nice smelling product, and felt nourishing when applied, however I'm more of a shave and a splash of Eucris kind of guy.

Since I started traditional wet shaving I've used Geo F Trumper's Coral Skin Food as a post shave balm. It does a good job of soothing and moisturising my skin.What I'd recommend doing as well is wetting your face before applying the skin food. This seems to give an even better moisturising effect rather than just applying directly.A little also goes a long way. You only need small amount to cover your whole face, especially if you wet your face first.The scent is pleasant and not too strong, which is good if you're going to use aftershave or cologne later on.

Trumpers Coral Skin Food is a legendary product. The aroma is roses, which sounds possibly a touch effeminate for a men's shaving product; but, like Penhaligon's Hammam (the original cologne - the one that wasn't from Koln, that is :-)), is an integral part of the shaving experience. The base is mainly glycerine, which is very moisturising, and doesn't harm the skin (unlike alcohol based tonics and aftershaves).The 100ml bottle is designed to dispense an ideally sized drop to treat your face, and experience tells me that it will last a little over one year (shaving a little less than every other day).

I've never used anything like this prior to Geo F. Trumper Coral Skin food. Wish I'd have known. Works, leave no residue. Skin is great like a perfect shave even if I butcher myself.No pain or stinging like alum or a styptic pen. Can use aftershave after it too. Has a faint smell that goes away. A dab goes a long way. I definitely recommend Geo F. Trumper Coral Skin food.

Let me qualify this by review saying products like this are very personal and what works for me may not work for you.It's a nice lotion but to be honest I think there are alternatives out there that do as good of a job or better for less money. Keep in mind that every face is different with different skin types and chemistry. I went with this Trumper's product because you hear so much about English shaving products, so I bought a soap (coconut hard soap) and this skin food. The soap has been fantastic but the skin food is just so so. While I like the soothing feel, the smell and the fact that it leaves my face none greasy, I don't feel that it performs any better then some of the local drugstore stuff like Nivea or Real Shaving Company. My actual favorite products for after shave is a dose of Witch hazel followed by L'Oreal Comfort max. I don't use the same aftershave balm everyday, and I'm going to start using the Trumper's everyday to see if there is a noticeable long term benefit. If there is long term benefit, then I will come back and delete this review and put up a new one.

I use this product after I've shaved and rinsed. It leaves my face moist and limber, with a smell that hints of roses. It's not greasy.
