AFX FX-39 Shield (Silver Mirrored)

I bought this for my FX39 because I live in a heavily populated area and dont like people to be able to see my face when I'm riding. This shield does the trick, I got one of the darker ones. Some people compained they got ones that were nearly see-through and not mirrored. Mine was definitly DARK and mirrored, probobly can't wear it at night or on really dark cloudy days.The only gripe I have is that it looks cheap off the helmet. I bet it cost about .14 cents to make in china so someone is making bank on these. On the helmet it looks really good and you cant see the blemishes because the visor covers the sides were it's ugly. This + the helmet was still under $150 so it's a steal! It looks amazing and I turn heads everywhere I go!

I was worried based on the other reviews as to how this visor would look based on the photo on amazon. When I got it, I discovered it is almost identical as the photo on amazon in how mirrored it is. It's not a light tint either, it's very dark looking through it. I don't think you could even use this past sunset because you wouldn't be able to see very well after dark. But since I ride mostly during daylight and I can always revert back to the clear, I really like the look of this visor. It completely hides your face when shut. Nice visor and it was delivered fast after ordering. I wish it had been packaged better by the seller, but luckily mine wasn't damaged by the poor packaging. It was in a box but it wasn't stuffed with protective paper or plastic to protect it from shaking around. Overall, very satisfied.

The installation process is pretty annoying. First remove the peak, then remove the plastic hinge clips from the stock visor. Then put the hinge clips in the new visor and replace the peak. It sounds pretty straight forward but the plastic clips are a pain and the mirrored visor scratches if you breathe on it wrong.

Seems good, I like it so far. Good for around town on sunny days. To dark to wear at night. Looks cool. Be careful when your attaching it. One of the plastic clips on my hinges didn't want to pop back into place and is now loose on a brand new helmet, very disappointing. The optics seem decent though. It's just plastic with some tinting film. It does what its supposed to.

If you live in a relatively well lit city like L.A. or any other major metropolitan city, this should be ok at night.I'm not recommending you do use it at night but I often ride places and the sun goes down and I'm not changing my visor.Sometimes, in certain dimmer areas I've had trouble seeing through it while riding at night but for the most part is great for day, ok for night.

The Good:Looks CoolFits well with no gaps letting in excessive airThe Bad:Hard to install and makes a ominous clicking sound (beyond what you would expect from a visor) when it is pushed open and close, almost like a grindingMetallica finish is chipping after one day!The Details:This shield is just ok. For the price though I was hoping for something of higher quality. I got it installed wore it for a 60 mile round trip today 8/30/2014 and the visor already has two black spots, that appear as though the metallic finish has chipped. I was not hit by any rocks, just bugs and they chipped off the finish? I'm a little disappointed to say the least. It is not noticeable right off unless you are looking, but that should not happen from one day of riding, no exceptions!

I give them 4 stars for the lens quality, but the lens is not even close to being as dark as the picture.It is a really light, almost clear lens.Form, Fit and Function is Good though, so buy it is you do not live in a sunny state like Texas.

This is nice and dark with 100% face privacy. You can't see into it at all unless the lighting is JUST right and you're really close. It looks AWESOME! Also, I live in the desert and this really does a good job shading the hot sun. I haven't taken any long rides but I'm assuming it's UV protected so my face doesn't get sunburned. This is an awesome face shield and HIGHLY recommended.
