Bucilla Stamped Cross Stitch Crib Cover Kit, 34 by 43-Inch, 40787 Babies are Precious Blue

This baby quilt is so pretty. I have started stitching on it already, but I do have one suggestion to the manufacturer of the quilt. Please have the thread separated by color and have a color coded chart. The thread was all bundled together and was very difficult to separate the different colors. Other than the thread problem, the quilt is well made and the stamped area is very well done and easy to see.

It’s cute but there are many spots with half erased patterns.

I've been doing small cross stitch projects and kits for most of my life. I decided to try this much larger project to give as a gift to a friend. The blanket is high quality and feels like it will hold up over time. There is enough thread to at least get you started (I'll update this review if I run out of thread). And a needle does come in the kit, although be careful because it is hidden in the knot of thread. In sum, if you've done one of these projects before, no need to read any further. I recommend this for you.If you are new to these blankets, as I am, know what you're getting yourself into. First, this is not just a cross-stitch project. This kit requires you to also know "back stitch," "satin stitch," "running stitch," and "french knot." I'm guessing these are not difficult, and can be improvised or learned via YouTube. Just beware of this.In addition, while the blanket is printed, it is printed in all one color (a fairly obnoxious dark blue color). So you will still need to use the instruction booklet. It's only slightly easier than blank counted kits. Furthermore, the printing is smudged in several places. This means that you will need to improvise the design in order to fully cover over the printing with stitches. I've posted pictures that should help potential buyers see what I mean.Rather than returning the kit, I will try it and update this post as needed. I just think some caution is advisable for those new to these kits, and make sure you have a lot of time, because this will not be a quick project. Even though the design seems easier than some of the others, it is not.UPDATE 1: The instructions do have drawn examples of the other stitches I mentioned above. They also say that the printing will wash off when washed. This will be very important, as there are a lot more random smudges and ink dots than I initially noticed. I will update again when I'm finished and try to wash it.

I would give this quilt five stars but because of the thread shortage I can’t. Not just one color but 3 different colors ran out before I finished. However, the pattern was printed good and the instructions were easy to follow. Customer service answered my washing concern. The pattern ink completely washed out using delicate cycle. The colors were even more vibrant after washing. A beautiful quilt for our first Great grandchild.

I bought this for a friend to make for her granddaughter and she loves it.

After working on the quilt for months, it is beautiful EXCEPT the blue markings did not wash out. It is especially a problem in the middle square where I was going to put the baby's name and birthdate instead of the saying they stamped in there. But the pre-stamped wording did not wash out, and I will have to place patched piece over it and embroider the name onto there. Not the look I was hoping for.Otherwise, the quality of materials was good and there was plenty of thread.

This is a cute pattern, but I did not give five stars because of a couple of things...First, there was plenty of thread to finish, I was worried because some of the reviews said there was not. But I did have a problem with separating the threads...they were so messy and it took way too long to correct. For that reason alone, I would not buy this again, unless they fixed that. I just simply do not have the time to spend.Other than that...it was a fairly good experience...some of the stamped parts were not even, but that is not a problem unless you have never done this type of thing before.Fix the thread problem, and you will have a return customer.

Don't really like the Bucilla product but I am limited in companies that make stamped cross stitch in the theme I was looking for.I make a blanket from this company and just opened another packet and the problem is the same. They jumble all their threads together into one lump and after you separate them, you need to figure out what is 'light green' from 'pale green' from . . . some colors are so close in shading! I go from sunlight, to lamplight, to bathroom light, back to sunlight again just to make sure I grabbed the same colors in sorting!!! FRUSTRATING TO SAY THE LEAST.I also called the phone number on their product to complain and ask for further clarification of their stitch diagram only to get NO RESPONSE FROM THEM EITHER THROUGH PHONE or email. but I will just decide what color I want for what stitch and use consistency throughout the product and it should be ok.
