It takes two—crunchies & goo!
I'm not about to taste this gel to see what its flavor is like & I doubt Rikki will tell me. As far as cleaning up hair goes... see Atlas below. That said, my cat who recently turned 18 hasn't had a bad hairball (more like torpedoes) problem in the 5 years I've had him. (Wolfing down his food or slurping up water from his fountain at an alarming rate is more likely to have a lash-back effect. Why he does that is beyond my comprehension since it's very rare that he has eaten all of his wet food (which he now loves since he gets a new flavor every day) & his dry food which he decided he now loves also.) He was missing some teeth when I adopted him but he loves crunching away on his dry food—at the left—aimed at at a healthy GI tract. So that helps along w/this gelHe has always had raised feeding & water bowls or a fountain, both of which are now even higher as a concession to his age. And he gets plenty of sleep to go along w/a good diet & plenty of clean water. His blood work results are remarkable for a cat his age; he has a wonderfully silky coat which gets brushed several times a week—he all but tap dances when he sees me don those gloves; and, so that we don't have to live in squalor, Atlas the robovac picks up the hair daily that Rikki still manages to shed all over the floors.Despite all of the above it still takes TWO different hairball treatments to keep those coughing-up-hairball events at an absolute minimum, this gel (which I hide in his wet food shown at the right) & crunchy little treats we also buy here from the Greenies folks. So if you're willing to make the effort—and this gel really is a keeper—then you too may have a chance at keeping hairballs at bay!

My Furry Baby Loves It!
This works great! It's been a long time since she has thrown up a hairball. I give her three little drops every few days. She loves the taste and she is always excited to take it.

Be careful picking which tube!
Pet-Ag has two identical labeled hairball gels. The only difference is the kitty face and the ingredients. The light coated kitty contains a petroleum type gel that our cat asks for. The darker kitty tube contains a watery paste which ours won't even smell. The Petro version helps our 19yo have more comfortable and daily litter visits. The other goes in the garbage. The tubes are similar but the contents are NOT!

Wonderful
All 4 of my cats will eat it. The only one they will eat. It helps them as well with their hairballs!

Cat doesn’t like the flavor and its functioning is questionable... But it might just be my cat
Got this because, of course, of hairballs. So flavor wise, my cat would NOT just lick it by itself, period. I’ve tried many ways - when he’s hungry, put it on his nose etc. he would not eat it. So I had to mix it with wet food. I’m not sure whether that will change its effectiveness?Consistency wise: not too bad but definitely hard to manage. It’s gooey and sticky.... so even when I mix it with wet food, it does require some effort for me to make it melt.Functionality: honestly, I don’t think it’s done anything in particular... my cat still had one hairball vomit after I started using it. I might have to keep monitoring

Cat Crack
I LIKE that my cats go for this stuff like it’s got cocaine in it. They try to eat it as it comes out of the bottle. I’ve never seen a cat so ravenously try to eat anything other than catnip. I don’t know what tastes so good but jeez. I think it helps them with hairballs. If I use it regularly, the hairballs are definitely reduced greatly.

Nectar of the Gods to Some Cats
I bought this because I was having issues with finding vomited hairballs throughout my house. One of my cats (the one who needs it the most as he's super long-haired) wouldn't take the bait but the other one...holy cow! He would stand there & eat the entire tube if I let him! He laps it up like it's ambrosia from the heavens, so he's been throwing up a lot less, thankfully. If you have a cat that throws up hairballs, I would recommend trying this!! All of your cats may not sign on for it but I'm sure one of them will & it's amazing, the results!!
