Triple Bunk DIY Woodworking Plan to Build Your Own and Hardware Kit that Sleeps Three (Wood NOT Included)

We bought these plans to make a triple bunk for my kids room. I have a very limited knowledge of wood working, but had no issues reading the directions and understanding what was to be done. A family member who was helping and has woodworking experience stated the directions were wonderful. A few suggestions would be to plan for a week or more, and at least 2 other adult helpers to build this bed. It's alot of work, but the final product is not only beautiful, but stable and sturdy as well. Only downside is the bottom bunk seems narrower than the other bunks and I don't see an adult being able to get into the middle bunk with the axilliary ladder in place. But since I build it for my kids, it gets 5 stars.

The plans and the kit enabled me to build the set in about 8 hours. I made a few modifications to meet my room dimensions and shape. If built as the plans direct it is super sturdy and "Kid Proof." The only dimensional difference I made was to cut the plywood bunk boards 1/2 inch wider than called for to prevent any sliding on the cleats. The hardware kit was just right in quantity and quality. As for lumber costs, I spent $272.00 total at my local lumber store and cut costs by using CDX instead of plywood. The plans were easy to understand and I did make a jig out of an old short piece of 2x4 so that all my holes drilled were the same pattern. Oh, the boys loved it and couldn't wait to sleep in the bunks.

Ordered this booklet and the accompaning hardware to make 2 sets of bunkbeds for our pastors children. They live in a small house and have 7 kids, six of whom are boys. We built 2 sets of these bunkbeds so the heads come together in one corner. It really maximized the useage of space in the room and was a wonderful project for our church to come together on. This set up left plenty of room for 2 dressers and floor space for the kids to play. Highly recommend these instructions if you are trying to maximize space. Also would be great if you only needed 2 beds as you could use the top for out of the way storage. BTW, we purchased the bunkbed mattresses from Sams Club and they worked out great. Fit very nicely.

This bed has been a lifesaver for my kids. They are excited to go to bed - It is something different. The bed is structurally sound and I can even lay on the beds +250 lbs. I added some LED lighting so the kids could read in bed and attached a fan as it does get a little warm with no air movement.

We bought the plans and hardware. It was a long three days of building but we finished and the bed is the sturdiest thing in our house now. I'm very happy with this purchase.
