More than I knew (and I'm Asian)
If you're worried that this book will not be accessible for people who know about social rights, but aren't Asian, I don't think you should worry that much. This books is very accessible, even to the non-academic, well cited, and gives news stories, personal anecdotes, research studies, in a very good format.I learned a whole bunch from this particular book that I wasn't aware of. It gave me a voice for the things I knew and couldn't explain why they were wrong and debunked the things I thought could be wrong, but I had no proof for.The index is also well done and the sections are formatted well. It's the kind of book I wish was around when I was a child so I could fight many of the things that were stated in the book with the words here. Definitely worth it.

right on target
One of my graduate classes required me to look into "Asian Issues", so I bought a few books on amazon and this one really captured my attention. It was easy to read, it gave great examples/real life experiences, I could hardly put it down. It is also a great length if you are a busy person who wants to read a book that just gets to the point. I definitely recommend this book for all people. We should all strive to learn more about the issues people face, especially the often ignored/looked over Asian issues. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Amazing
I'm doing research on positive racial identity in multiethnic multiracial Asian children. This book was/is an amazing resource for my study in specifically naming the stereotypes and barriers APIs face. I haven't found any other like it so far. Other resources have really side-stepped the issue - only briefly mentioning stereotypical ideas and not exploring the historical roots of such biases (and how they continue to be perpetuated) in too much depth. I highly recommend though be warned, this book doesn't mince words. It can be an emotionally distressing but educational read.

ENLIGHTENING
This book is the most comprehensive and accurate portrayal of the inherent racism prevalent in our society today. I have experienced a lot of the situations, particularly in school, K through college that this book writes about. A must read for all Asians and people of color because it raises greater awareness and hopefully more preventive measures taken to stop the systematic racism that occurs on a daily basis. Bravo to the authors on such a prolific book!

Yes, enlightening indeed!
I agree with the rest of the reviewers. This book is truly informative and enlightening. Among the multitude and vast evidence that the authors provide, I found the most significant contribution to be the voices of Asians/Asian-Americans themselves. There is never anything like hearing directly from the people and experiencing their responses with them as their telling their story, which made the consequences of racism in all forms even more mind-blowing.I am multi-racial, yet I am not of Asian descent. However, in my experience my ethnic groups are constantly told to be like Asians. Why can't we be like Asians? For the people I do know, and therefore do not wish to generalize, this has created animosity between these ethnic groups. From this book, I learned animosity and ignorance just lead to further division among different ethnic groups versus actually listening to one another's experiences and working with one another to create a supportive and resilient environment for all children and families to live in.I never knew the diverse yet traumatic experiences Asians/ Asian-Americans had to go through in America. I never heard their voices like I did in this book. Understanding that not everyone had such experiences, but I can say this definitely started the dialogue in further understanding the consequences of living in a sexist and racist society and its impact on all children, their families, and different communities.
