I use this hoist to lift/lower heavy objects into/out of the storage space above the garage. There were two strengths regarding this product. The lift control is long enough that it can be easily used both on the garage floor and in the storage space above without being directly under the hoist. The second is the speed of the lift - it does not crawl, it moves. The stated capacity of 500 pounds worked great for my application.But buyer beware regarding other aspects of it's use. The first and most obvious is to not overload the storage space above the garage! The second was the requirement to submit calculations to the governing jurisdiction proving that it's use would not overload the way it was hung beyond just the construction period - the hoist was noticed during a progress construction inspection. In my case, I hung the hoist on a short length of large diameter rigid electrical conduit. The conduit was then supported by two, two legged supports that extended to the storage floor directly over the floor joists. Calculations were submitted, reviewed, and approved. And as the title suggests, by back thanks me every time I use it.
