This magazine is a must for the art collector--both beginning and experienced. The work of the West's most accomplished artists comes to your home every month in the pages of Southwest Art. Each issue highlights up-and coming artists and emerging art trends.

Losing its "Southwest Art" focus
I'm a long-time subscriber to the magazine, but have joined many other readers in noticing its drift away from the genre of its own title. While "Art of the West" and "Western Art Collector" both maintain a strong focus on true western art, "Southwest Art" is becoming more generalized in its content, overlapping "Art in America" significantly. There are always a few pages of true southwestern art, but the vast majority of the magazine features cityscapes, floral still lifes, ballerinas and dancers, seascapes and boats, roads, etc. In fact, most of the glimpses of actual southwestern art (mountains, Indians, cowboys, buffalo/elk-style wildlife) are found not in the magazine's content, but in the advertisement images. I'm hanging on for another year, but if it doesn't remember its own focus I'll have to let it go and stick to the other two magazines by themselves.

A Glimpse Into Western Galleries
As an artist based on the East Coast, this magazine helps me see what is happening (at least in part) in galleries in the central and western parts of the USA.

My favorite Art magazine.
As an artist, not a collector, I love this magazine. I live in the west/southwest, and appreciate seeing what other artists are doing in my neck of the woods without having to travel. I also like knowing what gallery openings are coming up. I especially like the individual artist's ads. I really do wear this magazine out, and never throw one away.

One of the top art mags in USA, tends upmarket though
One of the very best art magazines in America. Beautiful photography, great writing, printed on very high quality paper.A great place to plan art buying trips if you have the money for the artists featured.

Good mag. for any artist or artlover
I bought a copy on the airport new stand a few years ago because I loved the painting on the cover. They do highlight many emerging artists which I like and a well rounded view with focus on western and southwestern venue. I have enjoyed it for 2-3 years.

Love this Magazine
Like to view painted skies, like to see the faces of people captured on the canvas, love to view mountains and hills, valleys and waterways? Want to look at someone's studio, see what makes an artist tick, and how they do the magic they do? This magazine has it all. I have copies of Southwest Art from years ago and still find something different when I sit on the floor and go through them. What a treasure!!
