Breathes new life into old tech
Works great! Initially thought it was faulty but it turns out the ZIF connector is upside-down compared to the original drive I was using. Flipped the cable and it was detected straight away at the full capacity of the 120GB 1.8" SSD I had connected to it. Used this to replace an old 30GB mechanical drive on a Dell D420. Breathed new life into it. Obviously not as fast as a full SATA connection, but certainly an improvement over the IDE mech drive that was in there.

Difficult to get a good connection
I installed this into Dell Latitude D430 and the SSD was not recognised.I took it out, checked cable seating, reconnected and, again, disk not seen.I did this several times and evern turned the cable around even though I knew it was correct.A day later, I decided to try it again and it worked.I think the cable can look like it's fully in, but is not. The connectors on these things are so small.Anyway, it worked in the end, so can't be too critical.Good value for money.

Successfully used to upgrade a Sony TZ laptop
Another reviewer reported this wasn't suitable to upgrade a Sony TZ laptop. It does actually work, with the gold contacts pointing towards the adapter board. The ribbon cable fitting is loose though, hence only 4 stars. This was resolved by trimming some anti static bag to the same width as the connector and inserting it before inserting the ribbon connector. With this, a good solid connection is made and the computer is quite happy with it.

not suitable for upgrading a Sony TZ computer
The spec seems right, but the cable grip does not hold tightly onto the ribbon cable from my laptop: a sony TZ machine which uses the same hard drive that is found in a number of Apple iPods. Seems that the connector is designed for a ribbon cable with much fatter connectors.

Creative Zen Vision M compatible
Used to upgrade my Zen Vision M to SSD. Worked like a charm (though like another reviewer I put the ZIF cable in upside down the first time). Only issues are the ZIF connector is just push in with no clip and the lack of orientation marking. But for 6 quid this is amazing value.

Low current usage makes this compatible with temperamental equipment.
Used this to add an ssd to my old sony laptop. Tried putting a 1.8" SSD drive in before, but they all had a high current demand >500mA, but this sweet little board plugged right in and worked right away. Just did a system clone from the original drive to the SSD mounted in a USB adapter. Then swapped out the old drive to the SSD mounted on this adapter and made a cradle to support it. Quick test before closing it up and job done. I'm very very happy with this adapter. Saved over £50 buying this and a bigger SSD, than buying an off the shelf drive!
