Not the best starter kit
So far so good. I upgraded from a 2.7 Penn Plax curved corner glass fish tank. When I saw this 5.5 gallon, I thought I'd give it a try. It arrived extremely well packaged and in working order. I preferred the other filter from my last fish tank (it was MUCH quieter, than the one included in this setup) so I'm using that one instead. The lights work well and are bright, my only concern is the fact that the lights are exposed to the water in the fish tank (they're directly above the water.) I'm in the process of figuring out a way to cover them with cellophane but not have it look tacky (easier said than done.) I purchased a separate light that I placed under the gravel and I still have the light clip I used for my previous tank, so I'm not overly concerned with lack of light, but it's something you might want to consider if your only light source is the one included with this tank. Since I have my old filter on the back of the tank, I can't fully close the lid but it works out ok, with some minor adjustments. It's not the best kit out there but I do like the size of the tank and the fact that it's glass. My biggest disappointment is the fact that the glass reflects so much, you have to get up close to the tank, in order to get a clearer view. I didn't have that issue with my last aquarium. If that doesn't bother you and you plan to use the gravel and decorations for this fish tank, then this might be perfect for you! If so, I hope you enjoy it!UPDATE*****I purchased the Aqueon glass cover and purchased a light. The lights sent with this tank don't allow real plants to grow (obviously.) I converted it to a shrimp tank and wanted live plants. The last photos are of the tank updated. I still hate the reflective glare on this tank but other than that it's great. 🙄

Decent tank, but maybe not for bettas.
I got this 7.5 gallon tank as an upgrade for my glow betta who was quickly outgrowing his 4 gallon tank. The tank itself is decent enough, however the silicone wasnt applied all the way to the top in two of the corners, so I had to fix it myself with some aquarium silicone. While I do like the tank, I'm gonna say I don't think it's a very good kit. First of all, it doesn't come with a heater (or at least mine didn't), which all glow fish need since they're tropical.I don't like that it only has the blue light setting, but most of the top is clear plastic, so I was able to get a separate light to be able to have some white light. The back of the tank is shiny black, which I'm sure most fish would be fine with, but my male glow betta could see his reflection in it and wouldn't leave it alone until I put some plastic mesh in front of it. But I don't think any other glow fish would be much bothered by it.The filter was too strong for my betta, so I'm using a sponge filter instead. This left a huge hole in the top, but I used an empty CD case to cover it up to prevent my fish from jumping out and to help cut down on evaporation. So all in all, I like the tank, but I think it's not really a great option for glow bettas unless you want to make a bunch of modifications. I know there's a tank specifically for glow bettas, but it's only 3 gallons and, personally, I think that's too small.

Still cool
Sent me the wrong type of tank. I ordered the long square one. Recieved the rectangle one. Other then that. It still looks cool. But still. Thats not the one i wanted.
