Exactly what I hoped: sleek, black, kinda disappears behind the leg of the desk, and the partial lid means I'm not looking at the contents all day. And the price is great.It's true: the lid doesn't fit exactly into the bin, but this is a consequence of having something so incredibly clean and simple and fairly-priced. Making it fit exactly would 10x the price. SO: simple solution: 1-2 layers of black electrical tape around the edge of the lid makes the lid larger and stickier, so it sits right where you want it, but it's totally invisible as it blends in with the metal can. (For me:1 layer all around, 2 at the ends.)Also: note that the lid is finished on both sides, but has a significant taper/bevel on its edge which means that one side is truly the top. It fits better if you make sure the wider side is up.

This is my second bin from Yamazaki. The other is the same model but rectangular. These are very stylish. They look great compared to anything else I’ve seen. There is a metal retainer bar that sits inside that holds the trash bag in place which is an awesome touch. I did have to order a new retainer after my maid through it away accidentally. So make sure to tell your cleaners about it if you use them.These cost a bit more but as with all of Yamasaki’s products you know you’re getting something very well made. These are made of strong powder coated steel with a wooden lid that is stylish and cool. I really dig it.

This trash can is perfect if the look you are going for is rustic like I was trying to achieve. I’m sure this trash can will work for other looks as well.The only issue this trash can has is the metal ring that holds the the bag is slightly too loose and falls down causing the wooden top piece to not sit flush with the trash can. However, this can be fixed by playing some double-sided tape on ONE side of the ring. DO NOT expose the other side of the tape. You can also place the tape inside the trash can at the height you want the ring to sit. Again. Do not expose the other side of tape.Other than that tiny issue, this is a great trash can!!

Metal can, wood top - it's nice looking but the pricing is too high. I'm keeping it but this is probably mispriced in $60s and ok but still heady at $30s for the Amazon like new offering

UPDATE from below review: They refunded my purchase where they forgot the lid, and I purchased another one which is exactly what I wanted.No harm, no foul.I'm happy to change this review once they send me the product I ordered which includes a lid.I like the trash can, the ring that holds the liners, but there was no lid with it. If your team reaches out and sends me the lid, I will make sure and let others know about your customer service. Every company has things like this, but whether or not they respond to these messages tells the difference in whether or not to buy stuff from them. We'll see.

I really wanted to love this trash can because the design looked great online — sleek and modern with that walnut wood finish. But once it arrived, I was pretty let down. It’s way smaller than I expected, and for the price, I assumed it would feel more substantial. The "walnut" looks and feels pretty fake, almost like a printed veneer. Definitely not worth the premium price. It looks nice from a distance, but up close it just doesn’t hold up. Wouldn’t buy again.

This is so much more attractive to look at than my old bathroom wastebasket, which just had a completely open top. I love that this still has an open top, so it's easy to tuck trash into, but part of the trash is hidden by the wood border. I admit, this is expensive for a trash can, but it brings me joy to look at. Visual design is important to me, so for me it's worth it. To people who say that the top piece does not lay flush with the bin, I think that's from how they're using it. There's an interior ring that the top piece rests on, and you need to place the ring higher up in the bin in order for the top piece to lie flush with the bin's edges. Unless their model is different from mine, I would say having the wood piece sink into the bin is a matter of how they're using it.
