The Palo Medical aPallo Cane features a second handle located below the upper foam handle, to safely assist the user when rising from a sitting position. The aPallo cane’s lower handle is ergonomically designed for both comfort and security with a soft grip, slip-proof handle. The cane height is fully adjustable. In addition to the angled arm and second handle, aPallo canes feature a high-intensity LED light easily accessed for nighttime maneuverability. The aPallo high intensity light illuminates a pathway-width swath of light that prevents injury at any location, be it a late-night bathroom trip or navigating an unlevel sidewalk on an evening stroll.

The cane is wonderful and unique but do not buy it from Amazon!
The Palo Medical aPallo Cane is great. It definitely helps you to stand up from a seated position. It is lightweight, compact and quad bases that can be purchased to make it stand on its own fit perfectly. The handles are comfortable, it comes with a strap, and the LED light in the handle is bright and useful. I bought this through Amazon and they sent me bulbs for the light that were not packaged ( the aPallo Medical instructions stated they were in a package) and did not work. The bulbs were stuffed loosely in to the handle. I believe that I received a returned item because the bulbs were unpackaged. This is a great cane but buy it from the company itself if possible.

Well-built
I purchased this cane as a gift for my mother, who uses two standard canes to walk around. I am very happy with the quality of this product - it's solid and works as designed. Since my mother is used to using two standard canes, I think it will take her a while to get used to this one, but to me it seems to work well. The only drawback that I can think of, is in the way the handles are designed. You can hang standard canes by the handle on the edge of a table, for instance, but this cane has a slanted finger protector (not sure how to describe it - but it's clearly visible in the photos), which doesn't allow you to hang the cane over a table edge. I suppose it would be better for hanging on a coat hook than a standard cane.

As soon as I saw this...
When I saw the lower handle I immediately knew that I really did need this cane! I have limited mobility (arthritis) and getting up from a seated position is extremely difficult. When I am down, I need something to hold on to in order to get up. This is what I needed! I have fallen on the stairs outside two times and if I had this cane when I fell, I would have been able to use the lower grip to get on my feet. When I need to get down on the floor, I always make sure I have something to help my back up. Well, this is well made, lightweight, and perfect. The rubberized grips, led flashlight, and rope loop are a real plus. Where I go, this ane goes! Recommended!

Thanks for this great invention!
This cane has made it possible for me to go out to restaurants and other places and be able to stand up from low chairs without arm rests and do it effortlessly. I am recovering from total knee replacement surgery and due to complications, my swelling won't be gone for another 3 to 4 months so I was totally handicapped about going to restaurants. I tried going to a restaurant the first 3 weeks after my surgery and found it totally embarrassing to have both my husband and another customer help me out of my seat. I am a "mother earth" type so it's difficult for my husband to help me. But this cane has helped tremendously. I bring it along in the car just in case. Thanks for this great invention!

Purchase as gift -
Family member received this as gift and he found it to be really great - especially helping him to stand up. the lower handleis the secret to that assistance feature. The light is very good too - safety feature I feel. He left this behind and someone took it andso we have just replaced this for him. As most people - sometimes he does not like to use the cane - and if you walk away fromthis one for even a short amount of time - it will be gone.

Really nice cane
I bought this for my mom, who has diabetes and finds it hard to walk and get up from chairs. She loves it, and was surprised that she actually needed something to help her get up from a chair. She never thought about it, but now wouldnt be without this. She's smaller than 'average', at 4'4", so the top handle is a bit tall for her, but she says she manages and wouldnt change a thing.

Very well made cane
I have issues with balance and being able to stand up. This cane addresses both issues. It's a sturdy cane that helps me feel less vulnerable. The last few canes I've ordered felt like they'd snap with too much pressure. I'm not a small person and I fall outside the weight limit and this works just fine for me. The second handle makes getting up much, much easier. I don't feel like I'm going to fall over. It comes with a nice attached strap and a light. One thing--whenever the cane would hit the floor, the light would start flashing. This wasn't even an annoyance. I just took out the batteries. The silver color even makes it look a little snazzy. I've gotten several compliments. Thank you for your well made product.

Where are the directions?
When I opened the box all I found was a small piece of paper requesting a rating on Amazon of anything above three stars and to call a number shown on the small piece paper, before I published on Amazon, if I was going to give the product three stars or less. I could not understand why the directions on how to properly adjust the canes length and how to install the batteries and use the flashlight were not included with the cane. There are 2 red caps on the cane and out of curiosity I pulled one of the red caps off and I found some instructions inside of one of the tubes. Every time I tried to pull the instruction out of the tube with my finger I just pushed them further back into the tube. After a little bit of fiddling I was able to fish the instructions out of the tube The instructions were well hidden and I only found then by luck. Now that I found the instructions there was nothing in them on how to properly adjust the cane, where to find the batteries, how to install the them and use the flashlight. The product seems to be well made, but the "hide and go seek" process with the instruction really needs to be eliminated and the instruction need to provide more detail on how to adjust and use the cane's features.
