Kid loves it.
Unfortunately, I have to review this as my child, who loves loves loves this book. I'm kinda done with it myself, but then, I guess it wasn't particularly aimed at me. The book is perfectly aimed at a middle elementary aged kid with a big imagination.

Super-helpful book! (ha ha)
This book is written as a clean, humorous manual on being a superhero. I totally needed help and after reading this, fighting crime fashionably, comfortably, safely, and ethically is a breeze. (Babysitting is a lot easier now too!)But seriously though, even if you're not into superheros that much, this is a fun way to learn more about the genre. If you are into superheroes, this book seemed rather balanced between the two main comics distributors Marvel and DC.Slight caution: There are a couple of instances where the rude A-word (meaning butt) is used. That's really the only "bad" word found. There are a few times where the author mentions other icky stuff like wedgies and toilets but it's not really a big deal. All in all, this book is a fun one and will be frequently read and re-read. :-)-Amaran's daughter

Humor for both kids and adults...
This is a pretty funny book that hits both kids and adults... The Big Book of Superheroes by Bart King. I've read a number of his other books, and they're a great mix of tongue-in-cheek humor and interesting information that you probably didn't know. This is what I think a children's book written by Dave Barry would look like. :)Contents: Welcome to the World of Superheroes!; Superpowers!; Acting Like a Superhero!; Becoming a Superhero!; Letting Your Parents Know!; Superhero Training!; Fighting Like a Superhero!; Zingers and Battle Cries - Speaking Superhero!; Rugrats - Your Most Dangerous Foe!; The Lamest - and Most Underrated - Superpowers!; Your Supername!; Dress Like a Superhero!; What's This "Right vs. Wrong" Stuff?!; Supervillains and Other Ethically Challenged People!; The Supervillain Halls of Shame and Fame!; Super Sidekicks!; Animal Superheroes!; Secret Lairs!; Superhero Teams!; The End Is Near!; Super Pop Quiz!; Appendix - Early Superhero History!; Selecte Bibliography; Answer Key; AcknowledgmentsWhat I appreciate most about King's writing is that he can write material that works on a number of levels (sort of like a Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon). The younger set will enjoy the cartoons and activities, and they will get the humor at the basic level. Adults will enjoy the more tongue-in-cheek material, while probably fearing some of the things the kids might try as they read. Adults (and kids) will also enjoy all the information about the history of various superheroes and how they came to be. There were numerous superheroes (and supervillians) I had never heard of, but they actually were real (I had to check to make sure my leg wasn't being pulled). If your kid is into superheroes and you want to encourage them to read more, this is a great book. And if you're into superheroes yourself, you might want to borrow it after they're done.Disclosure:Obtained From: AuthorPayment: Free
