Much better than I expected!
This Panasonic PV-9662 VCR is very unexpectedly in great condition and works very well. It is QUIET and offers a beautifully recorded picture. The Playback is solid without any shakiness or odd behavior for the AGE of this unit. I'm quite impressed. The only issue that looks weird is the LED display of the front panel lettering and numbers. They appear extra large and dot-matrix-like, but it's easily ignored because the display on the TV screen looks fantastic or that could be the Television that I'm using the VCR on. The remote or the manual didn't come with it, so I bought a replacement remote that isn't quite perfect (weirdly buttons for setting programs don't work) but works great for everything else, I will figure out how to set programming possibly with a different remote or I will just do manual programming and not worry about it. I wish I could have the ORIGINAL remote, but these are the breaks, as the saying goes or song goes. I found a Manual online, but it's for a PV-9661, basically the same MACHINE and it has 48 pages. Of course, I'm not printing all that out, I just keep it in my favorites to access whenever I might need some information. I'm overall very happy with this VCR though its little friends (remote/manual/cables) didn't come with it.

Works good for its age.
Has a slight problem loading a tape but once I getc it in it plays it very well. Quite reliable actually!

We're happy with the VCR but it doesn't work like a new one. But it works better then the one we had so we're happy.

Almost perfection!
Works better than the 2 year old VCr I bought new. I am rural in an area with lots of lightning. I do not want to replace expensive equipment so I prefer VCRs.I remember my mother buying one of these when they first came out. The catch is the remote which is huge compared to modern ones, but that is the only possible drawback. I love this model. Its stable, clear even at slow recording speeds with excellent audio. I only wish I had not finally thrown out my mothers remote collection a couple of years ago so I could have paid less for one without a remote.I find Panasonic VCRS to be the best quality and durability. Not hard to program either if you have a technology challenged person in household (I am not one of them).i
