Day-3 of continuous use 8 hrs/day no issues
I bought a used chair and that had the gas lift part missing. I ordered this knowing Amazon would have my back if needed to return. Fits like a charm. Since I did not have to remove existing/old part, I cannot comment on that. Again, this is a replacement part not all-in-one that automatically helps you remove old part and replace :)Very sturdy, lift works smooth, no noise. Great value item. Saved me from hassle of returning the chair and seller paid half the cost for this lift so was a win-win for both of us. Will try to update in few months if anything goes wrong. If everything works, I may not remember to update, everyone complains when things go wrong.

Fit & works
Getting the old one, frozen into the base, was impossible for me. Worked on it for several days, even with a baby sledgehammer. Took it to a friend with a metal shop, & he removed it with a pressure vise in about 2 seconds. The new one fit perfectly, but I put lithium grease on the fitting to hopefully avoid future repeats of the same problem.

Easiest Install and Fits The Thomasville Big & Tall Chair
This office chair replacement pneumatic shock/lift cylinder (#S6111) from Amazon fits the "Thomasville Edinger Bonded Leather Big & Tall High-Back Chair" and likely others. There's some descriptions and instructions on the attached photo which can be zoomed in. You're saving yourself a lot of time and work by using the existing outer cylinder on your chair while just using the new inner cylinder. There's no need to remove the chair back or arms off of your Thomasville chair and just turn it face down supported by the back top and arms against the floor. Then remove the clip and washer off of the cylinder on the bottom of the star-base with a small screwdriver. Remove the star-wheeled base and it should come right off. The 1" diameter shock top will be stuck in the hole in the chair seat base. Take a pipe wrench and spray some WD-40 where the shock is in. Turn with a pipe wrench until it spins some then I used a pair of vice-grips to snap on the shock and smack it with a sideways hammer head to remove where it should come out.Take the new chair shock and remove the clip with washer on the bottom of the shaft where you then remove the outer cylinder. You won't even need this if your outer cylinder is in good shape. Make sure the washers, bearing, and any other small parts are transferred from the new cylinder/shock shaft to the old outer cylinder. The old washers, bearing and clip can be discarded. Then you can stick the upper 1" diameter cylinder attached to the base in the chair seat hole. Flip the chair right-side up and sit on it a few times to anchor the cylinder in the bottom of the seat bracket. No need to make any adjustment to the plastic button on top for the Thomasville chair and seat height can be adjusted even if the new shock is a little higher. Good luck and hope this helps.

Replacement for Staples Hyken
Pros: It works, relatively simple to put on and it fits but not perfectly but not a real big issueCons: my hyken chairs lowest setting is now a lot higher than before with this lift, approximately 3-5 inches taller than with the stock hyken lift, the bottom fits well, but the top portion that goes into the hyken chair is slightly smaller than the originalThere was no struggle putting it into the chair, the only gripes i can say is the lowest setting is a lot higher than the stock lift

Worked great for 2005 Steelcase Leap Chair...
This is day one review... I will edit and update as necessary. The product includes no instructions... see YouTube. For my 2005 Steelcase Leap chair, I could not get to the end of shaft that was in the chair seat assembly with the pipe wrench. I had to twist the outer section about 15 times with a bit of pressure away from the seat. It gave me enough space to just get the jaws of the pipe wrench around the seat shaft. I did this with the chair on its side on the floor. Once I got the wrench on the proper shaft, it took a bit of effort to get it to turn. Use WD 40 and whack it a few times to start up some vibration. Once it breaks free it will come right out. I then placed the caster base ("legs") over a large trash can with the shaft pointed down. I used a hard mallet (you can use a hammer, but don't miss and hit a chair leg as they will break) and had to strike the shaft protruding from the bottom of the castor base with a sharp blow to free it. Once free, I inserted this new cylinder into the castor base and then into the seat base.Immediately the chair rose... I had to remove the seat using the slide release and a screwdriver to release the catch (keeps the seat from coming off during normal use). This procedure is also on YouTube. There is a allen head screw over the cylinder and I had to back it out about 2 full turns counterclockwise). I kept checking as you only want to back it out just enough as to not engage the cylinder button release unless the chair lever is being used to adjust height.Hope this helps...

Saved me from having to replace my office chair.
I got a new desk and my office chair didn't go high enough to be able to sit at the desk comfortably. The old gas-lift support only raised about two inches. This new one is sturdy and has a LOT of travel. It goes up at least four inches or more. I was able to keep this chair that I really like and it was a lot cheaper to replace this gas support than to buy a whole new chair. One thing to note - don't be afraid to really smack the old one to get it out. I also highly recommend a pipe wrench to twist the shaft to remove the old one. After watching a couple of YouTube videos, it was fairly easy to do.

Fantastic
I ordered a gaming chair a few years ago. After six months the cylinder failed. They sent a new one and it lasted eighteen months. This cylinder is stiff which is what I like and it was easier to install than it was to remove the old one. I hope it holds up. Amazon wanted me to say more, but what else can you say about a "chair gas lift cylinder"? It's a long black smooth rod like object, made of metal and plastic.

Fit IKEA Markus chair and made it taller
Fit perfectly and added a few extra inches of height. Only took me about 5 minutes, a hammer, pliers, and some paper towels to knock the old gas cylinder out and pop this new one in.Compatible with IKEA Markus chair and probably other IKEA chairs.
