MedlineDYND12578H - Medline Leg Bags with Twist Valve

My dad had to wear a catheter for a month. He is 84 and the large hanging/carry bag was a trip Hazzard for him. This leg bag being larger than some made life simpler and safer. He could empty the bag easily and It would hold all night without having to be emptied. He never had any leakage issues and the bag stayed in place on his leg fairly well.

These leg bags are identical to the bags used by my father in the physical rehab facility he was in. Rather than switch over to something different, I decided it would be best to stick with what he knows; these bags are priced fairly and function well for his needs. Occasionally, he fails to completely close the drainage valve, which requires an extra bit of tightening to completely close it, and that results in a leak, but there haven't been any failures, as of yet, that were due to defects in manufacturing. JDC Supplies shipped them to me within a reasonable amount of time.

I have used these bags for five weeks with a NEW bag each week. ALL leaked a small amount. I finally discovered what the problem was. The BOTTOM screw valve has a ROUGH spot or BURR on the threads. This occurred on ALL bags. When you TIGHTEN the valve, the ROUGH spot or BURR makes you think you have completely closed the valve. WRONG!! Tighten a little bit more until there is NO MOVEMENT on the screw, and you will have NO LEAKING out the bottom. Otherwise, works well. GOOD LUCK and keep the bottom valve TIGHTLY closed!!

Works perfectly. The only thing is the band that holds the bottom of the bag breaks the holes it goes thru as the plastic is not enough or needs more support there

I've been using these bags for several months and most of them have worked well, but on three occasions the bag sprung a leak, sometimes at the top, sometimes at the bottom.

Just what I expected. Medline products are always of the best quality
