GarnierColor Sensation Hair Color Cream, 5.21 Grape Expectations (Intense Purple)

Love this color on my daughter. She absolutely adores it as well. She says it's one of her favorite colors thus far. It's bright and hasn't started to fade at all. Seems like it will last pretty long.

Full marks to this lesser-used drugstore brand hair dye. It has achieved more for me than the professional dyes, delivering a shade I hadn’t managed to mix either at home or using a salon colorist.First the good stuff:PROS:- it really does comes out the color you see on the box. That alone is worthy of note.- No transference to pillowcases, towels, or clothes. That one is huge and I buried the lede there.- It fades uniformly and maintains a proportionate pink undertone.CONS:- It fades quite a bit. Granted, all red tones famously tend to do that, and the fading is gradual and not particularly noticeable week to week, but it does fade from a sunset pink to a peach blush. Ideal for me as I was actually searching for a pinkish apricot shade.Photos show the color both newly dye and after 6 weeks of product and heat styling.

The coloring is called Grape Expectations. I really like purple and I like how it makes my hair look.+

I bought this to refresh my already purple hair and it completely stripped my hair. There is a diagram on the box of what it will look like on processed hair but that can't be accurate. I have never in my ten plus years of coloring my own hair had this happen. It completely stripped out the purple and neutralized my hair so it not only was a waste of time but of money. I had to go get a different purple and spend another hour dying my hair but as it neutralized my hair my purple isn't as vibrant. It is going to take multiple refreshing to get my purple back so in the end this product cost me far more than $4. Now, I realize it is partially my fault for buying cheap dye but this box also has false advertising. I do take partial responsibility but it should also be advertised as having some kind of lightener in it. I got a no bleach needed kit for a reason. Again, do nor use on processed hair.

UPDATE: I bumped it to a 3 because it's lack of color. When I first tried this, it was great. The color was perfect, leaving og review below btw.I saw it was back in stock and was like yes!! It wasn't even pink. It was like a soft lavender. The only difference was I had bleached my hair with manic panic last time and had that yellowish pale tint. This time I used a different bleach that made my hair white. There shouldn't have been that much of why it's purple vs pink. I used the 2 boxes, came with 3. The 2nd upped the color but again, still purple not pink. I put frose by Arctic Fox over it and love it. The next dye job I need, I'll do it again like that but I am so disappointed. I'd bump it to a 2 but from past experience I thought I'd be nice. Now on to my og review:It figures, I finally find a color that's perfect and it gets discontinued. Lol Box dye isn't great to use, but the color is beautiful, it takes the guess work and expense, out of it. I'm poor, I can't keep spending $30-$40 worth of dyes over and over again, also the poor part hurts me from going to a salon too. Lol So bummed this isn't being sold anymore.

Love this color. So disappointed it has been discontinued. I refuse to buy the last few boxes at 3x the price. Searching for a replacement.

I wanted to dye my hair a subtle pink and I picked California Sunset Coral Pink and I was pleased with the color. I have light brown hair with highlights from the sun. I only left it on for 15 minutes but it resulted in subtle pink highlights and overall it isn't noticeable when I'm on Zoom but you can tell in person. This is permanent hair color though and I wasn't aware it was going to lighten my hair (it is subtle as well). I like it but if you are only looking for pink and not a lightening effect, I would suggest one of the pure pink stains. I didn't think I would use it again but now I'm glad it came in a package of 3!

I love this color and the product the only bad thing about this was that it was very hot 🔥 that when I received the product the bottles of developer were so hot I think they ruined the developer it's really super hot here in Arizona and that day I believe it was about 116 outside even in the shade but I will still order again great product just need to beat the heat.
