Mig / Electrode Welding Plant
This seems a very good allround unit with very little complications,it does a nice job and has very sensitive controls. It does what you ask and For now am very pleased with this unit.I also enjoy the stick welding function, very simple and makes a satisfying job when you lift the welding mask. All in All an enjoyable process.

140amp mig, bargain!
But of a hiccup to start, but Luke sorted it out straight away. Cannot fault his customer service. As for the welder, for the money, again, cant fault that either. Yes, as others say throw the mask in the bin but it's the same with any welder you buy regardless of price. Auto darkening available for £30.The welder itself has been performing without missing a beat. I've been welding various thicknesses of sheet 1-3mm for body and chassis work for MOT. Good penetration on lowest settings, wire speed 5. Very easy to use, and the flux core wire that comes with isn't bad either, minimal splatter and thats practically eliminated with a bit of anti splatter spray.Highly recommend Static arc as a company and their product.

Nice lil MIG
Compact & lightweight, Nice smooth wire feed, Very wide power adjustment band, Sturdy Handset, Earth lead is a bit short but the welder weighs very little. pretty impressive little rig.

Good value
Ran this through its paces on MIG only Gas/Gasless.I had a Clarke 100E gas for 30 years and to compare may be a bit unfair. The Clarke was a heavier duty rig and probably has lastability however there is nothing to say that this Static Arc won't last as long, time will tell. An example of build perhaps the wire motor on the Clarke which has a bigger heavy duty one where as the Static Arc is a tiny little thing that looks like it may pack up tomorrow BUT technology has moved on and it may last years. So to concentrate on my test of this Static Arc I first tried gasless on car body steel and sheet 0.5mm. With wire speed at 3 and amp on minimum 1 it blew holes straight through like a plasma cutter absolutely useless, trying other wire speeds proved fruitless. On 1mm steel sheet it performed ok providing you move along seams quickly and it welded well. Now a problem came when I wanted to try gas as the welder does not come with the pipe needed to connect to gas and you need to buy this along with a regulator, plus a new wire drive feed wheel to suit the non flux steel wire. I bought 0.6mm wire and some new 0.6 welding tips. So you need to bear in mind that if you wish to use gas you need to buy gas pipe, regulator, wire feed wheel and 0.6mm welding tips. I used 0.6mm wire for the Gas test not 0.8mm. I thought I would try a mini regulator and mini disposable bottle of argon/Co2 mix with a view to buying a full sized regulator and bottle if the welding was any better with Gas.The result with Gas was much better. Welding 0.5mm sheet steel neatly was no problem with a setting of minimum number 1 on Amp and wire speed set at 5.Car body steel can be welded ok providing you use Gas and not Flux however on perhaps a bit thicker stuff like chassis flux may be ok.This was my finding, other folk may disagree that using flux no gas you can weld car body work but I found gas is needed, it's neater and much more controllable.I gave the review 4 stars not 5 for the simple reason that to operate using gas you need to buy extra items which inflates the overall price, its not a matter of just popping a bottle on. I feel a non gas drive wheel for the wire feed should also be included and not just the serrated one thats for Flux wire.Overall good value for money, does the job. Will it last 3 years or 30, we'll see.

Wow! I met a new friend
My hand cart broke, and upon inspection it was easy to see trhat it was due to my poor welding. 8 years ago I put my trusty 140A Arc welder away as to be honest I'm a real crap welder and it was just too heavy to lug about. Before I retired 6 years ago, I had tried my hand at Mig welding at work and did find it easier, once someone had set up the gas, volts and wire speed. I dug out my old welder, plugged it in and out went the lights.Reading all the reviews and U-Tube videos I picked out a welder that would do almost anything I could think that I might want to weld. I chose the Static Arc MIG140A as it seems it will do Mig, Arc and Tig, should I get ambitious at some point; And if necessary I can always fall back to Arc welding. I had never heard of MIG gassless welding, but it looked the way forward. Static Arc also seem to have a reputation for supplying reliable equipment according to the reviews I read,The welder arrived two days earlier than Amazon predicted, in a polythine wrapped box. I was shocked at how small and light the box was, thinking of my old Arc welder. My first impressions.. Its a dinky toy, The instruction book is useless as it shows nothing about how to set up the wire or a clue on settings. U-Tube gave me a clue, albeit for a different make welder, and some useful tips on how to weld. Google found me some settings I could try (wire speed, volts, amps). So my first attempt, Wow! I've added a picture of my very first attempt at gassless mig welding. Not the best weld, but I was very impressed. It comes with a little coil of 0.8mm flux wire for gassless MIG, spare copper MIG nozzles for both 0.8mm and 1.0mm wire but no spanner? Hint! (remove the copper nozzle when installing the wire). The supplied face mask provides a cheap safety device for your eyes, but would in my opinion make welding impossible, so get a proper mask.Would I reccommend it. You Bet. Its great for small jobs and so portable. I haven't tried to Arc weld above 2.5mm rods as using 3mm I'm told it will blow the fuse in the plug, but much better results than my old unit and for my DIY workshop its just perfect!

Amazing piece of kit worth every penny
Was skeptical at the beginning and I put a lot of research into each welder to find the cheapest but best one I could buy to do me in the meantime until I bought a “decent” one.... that was the plan anyway until I actually used it. Cracking piece of kit blew my expectations out the water by far! I won’t be buying a “decent” one this one is decent lol. Well packaged easy to set up does a great job. Only downfall is the cheap mask you get with it, it’s pretty funny actually but I suppose it’s better than nothing and considering what you get included for the price it’s well worth it. If your in doubt and want a decent, reliable cheap welder. Get this one 100% it won’t let you down. 10/10
