Made out of solid steel. More rigid and sturdier than the competition. I have had several others that are thinner lighter and.... actually bend others have little circles that can catch on fine blades. F Dick got this one right on the nose!

A must have if you want to keep your knives in top shape easily. It's Diamond Dust coated and actually sharpens rather than reshapes as common steels used for Knife Maintenance.Had one in my original knife kit from culinary school and was impressed with how well it worked. Eventually got 2 more: one to keep at home and one for my daughter.Price is actually inexpensive when you consider how well it works and certainly remedies that old adage "Nothing is more dangerous then a dull knife"!!!!

I still have this product and its still good as new.

This was my knife kit steel from Johnson and Wales. It's easy to use and very effective. For home cooks it will work fine for a good few years. Between school, home, and work with some improper treatment it's still usable after 4 years. I say usable but the grit is almost all gone, in a restaurant it will probably need to be replaced in 2 years. Still though good product.

Really sharpens great. Curved shape makes sense. Little pricey but worth it
