Other reviews: Deduct 2 stars because lag bolts not included? While I agree the lag bolts should have been included, IMHO no stars should be deducted for this omission. The reel is too excellent to deduct for only that. Cord does NOT whip at the end after the very simple and clear directions are followed to program the reel to slow down at any length you like at the end of the rewinding action. Works great after programmed. I bought 2 of these after reading the very high reviews here. Installed one in my garage and the other in my workshop. Used both immediately. I attach an extension cord when longer distance is needed. Read all of the pros of other reviews and you will see why I think this is a great cord winder. Extremely high quality. Love 'em! Might even buy another for inside the house!!

Just installed the unit:So far:Pros: Rugged design. Heavy brackets (designed by engineers not accountants). Easy to use. Gives every indication that it is well built and will last.Cons: Made in Mexico not U.S.A. Bracket design is awesome but could be better.Advice: Snapping the reel into place is a bit tricky. Most people will snap the reel onto the bracket while standing on a ladder. IMO it would be a good idea to practice this operation on the bench so you have a feel for it, then when you are on the ladder it will go smoothly. There are two safety locks on the bracket. One is a spring loaded pin and the other is a screw. These need to be disabled in order to snap the reel onto the bracket. Once the reel snaps into place you twist the pin and it locks the unit so it can't come apart. Then you tighten the screw as a redundant safety lock.

Overall, this is a really good product - works as advertised. The problem is that the end of the cord, where the outlet is, is very heavy and is sometimes impossible to plug in items such as trimmers, without carving away rubber sheathing on the trimmer cord to be able to use the RoboReel. Also, the weight of the plug is constantly unplugging itself from the trimmer <sigh>.... I would suggest purchasing an adaptor that sticks out 1" or so to allow it to 'insert' into the electric trimmer cord (or whatever you may have). Additionally, I would LOVE 25 more feet of cord to have been added to this unit... On the other hand, the cord is heavy duty, and the unit's ability to auto-wind cord back in is fantastic... Overall, it is a good unit, as advertised. Just make sure to get adaptors if you have tools that have rubber sheathing around the plug for protection..

I have a small woodshop and bought this reel to mount to a sloped ceiling after seeing a peice about it on thewoodwisperer.com. It's every bit as wonderful as I wanted it to be. The mounting bracket attaches EXTREMLY easily to the ceiling with three lag screws (not included) and then the entire reel assembly slides down into the bracket and locks via a spring loaded pin and a screw. There is no assembly of bracket etc. just add on the cord stop and plug in. The instructions very clearly tell how you must program the reel when to slow down or it won't slow down at all. You just pull out the cord to the length you want as your slow down point and hold down the retract button on the end until the light blinks twice. Then when your cord retracts it doesn't whip the end around the room. I set my slow down as the length of the cord just touching the floor and that works great for me. It's a fantastic reel you won't be disapointed if I had a bigger shop I'd have two!

I just received this items and as others describe it seems to be very well built, but what I just don't get is how a $280 item does not include the 3 lag bolts to mount it. I guess the assumption is that I have these already, but for this price I would expect a few lag bolts to mount it. Unbelievable.

Overkill for my garage, which is part of its appeal. All my friends are jealous. Works perfectly. I walk my garage then the driveway with electric blower and pull cord as needed. When done, a simple push of a button puts the cord away. Need the power saw? Cord is always at the ready. I hate dealing with power cords and thanks to this I no longer have to. A must have.

works well some concern if it will hold up, brackets are heavy duty, cord is quality grade. Price is high but if it holds up then its a good buy

This has to be the coolest thing to have in a garage. Sure its expensive but it like a an orange DeathStar looming in the air... waiting. Works exactly as described and the ability to control when it slows down is awesome (avoids the frantic whipping around like conventional spring/ friction designs). Best of all, its a true 15 amp, which is also great when your using heavy power tools that demand amperage.
