Depth perception, quality, and color sets the bar for 2019.“Hypersmooth” is indeed a great innovation. I used it without a gimbal on a chest mount while participating in a bike race and got the stability desired from the stabilization technology, without the extra hardware.I showed some people the footage, filmed at 1080p/120FPS, and they made comments along the lines of “It feels like you’re actually there.” This camera is capable of far more. After watching reviews of the Silver and White, I decided to just pull the trigger on the flagship model. I don’t regret it at all.Two words of advice:1. Be SURE you get an SD card listed as compatible. Google “site:gopro.com sd cards” and check the list on the first result from GoPro’s website. These approved cards are not expensive these days.The same card you used for previous generations with great success will not necessarily keep up with the throughput needs of the amazing framerates and resolutions the Hero 7 Black can produce.If you’re having issues with freezing — either in terms of camera interface or video footage — check your SD card before blaming the company behind your new investment. You NEED one that meets the “U3” (a “3” in a “U” shape printed on the card) spec. I used a “U1” and was able to get a good amount of footage at 1080p/120FPS, but some key moments had only audio captured, with a single frame frozen for the video. No one to blame but myself.2. Buy additional batteries for any filming activity you expect to take more than 60 minutes.If you’re going to selectively film here and there, you may be able to get away with one battery, but if you’re like me, filming everything then editing back home, you’re going to want additional power.Take advantage of the swappable battery. There are solid options for third-party batteries, so spend a bit more to give yourself the ability to “capture the moment” the next time you break out the camera, letting the sweat come from the activity in question rather than the battery level.Overall, yet another good release from GoPro. There are some good competitors out there that may offer more advantage in terms of cost versus features if you just want a camera capable of catching good video, but when it comes to the current generation of action cameras, GoPro once again sets the bar.

I personally have been a fan of GoPro's over the years. I've had close to almost all of them and the few I didn't, I had the chance to see how they performed overall. This is the one GoPro up to this point that I have invested in a few of them now. I've never done that ever. I've never thought to myself that it was so neat I really needed another when I had a few others I could use, but the Hero 7 Black does so much I really find it hard to use any of my older GoPro's durning the filming process. The image stabilization is amazing! This action camera really makes anyone that isn't very good filming look pretty decent. I've been filming RC (remote control) vehicles over many years using these and it takes a super steady hand to get some awesome shoots. This has allowed me to relax a bit more while filming and driving at the same time and still get some better than ever shoots. That's what is amazing. There is more to it than just filming little RC vehicles. The TimeWarp feature is one of the coolest things I've played around with. I've never liked putting together time lapse videos but the fact that this thing can do a pretty neat time lapse is so cool! Yea they have fixed a lot with some of there updates, but it is so worth getting one and doing some neat stuff with it. Vlogging with one is amazing. The built in mic's are better than ever. I'm pretty impressed with the sound quality and then if you add a mic setup it is, Wow! So for what this thing can do out of the box is amazing, but just messing with some of the features can enhance the quality so much.So over all this is well worth getting one. You will be impressed with everything you can do just with the basic's and if you decide to set it up to do some amazing things you will be blown away!
