What’s best alternative aerial? Had for almost a week now and picks up nothing, even in a quarry sat next to other cbs

Am in and out of quarries all day that use CB’s, this picks up nothing

It's a basic unit, the supplied antenna is rather poor, a large whip type replacement improves reception, but it will never be perfection

When I press the talk the power meter doesn’t go to 100% , Is that normal ? I’m in uk and on high power , thanks guys

If the display is showing 'HIGH' then it should be transmitting the full 4w. The best thing to do is to hook it up to an accurate power meter to make sure the full 4 watts is being transmitted.

Try a different antenna.

This radio is mighty fine. Saw a lot of people on the Internet saying the supplied antenna is not that good. I swapped that out for a cheap 27MHz whip antenna. Yesterday, sitting in a Dorset car park, I picked up a station from the Netherlands for sure and possibly a German station, as well as locals. First time using cb since the 70s. Good to be back! The supplied car attachment looks really good but I haven't yet checked it out. Really great radio that works out of the box. Remember, using the small 6 battery pack will only Tx on low power. The supplied 8 battery pack gives the full 4W. Also remember to choose UK frequencies when you fire it up. Follow the easy instructions. Enjoy!

Lovely little CB radio

I think it’s great, it’s not busy these days as people don’t talk anymore they use WhatsApp , there are some local people around me that are always on it so earwigging is great, the supplied antenna does the job but nothing wrong with getting a better one, throw in some rechargeable batteries and you are good to go, I’ve been told my mic isn’t great which wasn’t good to hear but I’m still happy, brings back memories from back in the day, from what I have read this is the best hand held available, looks the part also, auto squelch is great for using when auto scan is on , overall I’m happy, brownie points for the wife who bought me it, come on people let’s bring CB back

It is good it works has intended but due to nasty ppl on cb these days rude and music playing ppl keying the Mike they ruine something tgat use to be so fantastic and could be a life saver if your phone goes still you have this for communication I had midland cb back in the day never went wrong good company on cb radios
