Great Thermometer for Skiers of a Certain Age!!!
Don't laugh, but I purchased this thermometer to attach to my ski jacket. I'm 50+ and reading glasses are a necessity rather than a convenience at this point. All of the thermometers that I've found on the Internet that are supposedly designed for skiers are apparently designed for young skiers with excellent vision as they are incredibly small and impossible for me to read. The display on this Taylor 1448 thermometer is large enough that I can read it easily without my reading glasses. I used a small lanyard with a key ring on the end which the suction cup can be fit through and then looped the other end of the lanyard through a small D-ring on my coat pocket. It works perfectly. The display is very easy to read against the white background of the snow.Other reasons that I like this thermometer for a skiing application? I've read a spec sheet that said that it only updates the temperature every 2.5 minutes. However, I place the thermometer outside in 20 degree weather and noted that as it cooled from room temp to the ambient outside temperature that it was updating the display every 30 seconds. It seems to be fairly accurate. I placed it next to the thermometer for my LaCrosse weather station and the difference between my weather station temperature reading and this thermometer was just 1.5 degrees. It's very lightweight so you don't notice it while skiing. The only thing that I would say could be improved is the low end of the temperature range. It bottoms out at -4 degrees F and early last week we had temps on the mountain of -18 degrees. This is not a huge deal as I don't find it particularly enjoyable to ski in sub-zero temps but it would be nice if it could go down to perhaps -20 degrees F. Other than that this is a great little thermometer at a very affordable price. I would definitely recommend it.

Fantastic! Cool! :-) At $18, though, not worth it!
Wonderfully designed, inexpensive, frig/freezer thermometer. At $18, that's no longer true!We don't use the stick on feature. Instead, we prop it up in the frig or freezer so that it's immediately visible and the light shines through it--thus, lighting up the numbers. It's quite fun opening up the door and immediately seeing what temp it is. Of course, that does lead to its occasionally falling out when you put more frozen veggies in or grab the juice container and knock it off the shelf.Still, its hard lucite covering makes it nearly indestructible. It's fallen out of the frig or freezer multiple times, and keeps working without a hitch! UPDATE: Jinxed ourselves. It fell out one too many times, was knocked akilter. Kept showing the temp, but the display was at an angle. Did not survive an unscrewing of it and repositioning! It's also incredibly fast at adjusting to temps-- move it from the frig to the freezer or back-- and it quickly show you the temp. It also seems quite accurate--at least it matched well the degrees we found from other, bulkier thermometers we own that weren't anywhere near as convenient to use.If I were in charge of design, I'd probably figure out a way to give it a prop stand in the back rather than the stick on. And, knowing that too many freezer compartments today lack lights (dumb move on the manufacturer's part, while perhaps done to remove a source of heat--more likely done to save a penny or two), an LED backlight of some sort could be included in a "Pro" version. (Oh, those frig/freezer manufacturers could put an LED in their freezer compartment and thus provide cool light.)In short, it's a winner. But not at $18! Look elsewhere. And, be careful with positioning it and knocking it about!

Great for my gecko!
This works great for my leopard gecko's terrarium. The thermometers that stick directly onto the glass are worthless as they just tell you the temperature of the glass itself. I did not want a thermometer that mounted on the outside and had a probe with a cord, because I can't leave the probe in while the lid is on. I also didn't like the idea of leaving cords lying around in the tank. So I decided this style would work best for me. This particular refrigerator model got better reviews than other similar models for whatever reason, so I decided to give this one a try. I've had it for one week, and so far it works perfectly! It has been a lifesaver as far as being able to accurately and easily gauge the temperature in my gecko's habitat so I can adjust his heating needs accordingly. The suction cup has not yet come undone. I did make sure to mount it close to the bottom of the tank so if it does come off, it won't land on top of my little guy. I would strongly advise not mounting it higher just in case it does come off. Besides, you want to read the temperature at the bottom of the tank anyway where your critter is actually crawling around. The digital numbers, as some people have complained about this style of thermometer, are harder to read at night, but everything is harder to read at night. Who stays up looking at a thermometer all night anyways? When I do need to read the temperature at night, I can see it just fine. I highly recommend this for anyone with reptiles! Inexpensive and efficient!!!
