Great utility knife
Admittedly I am a fan of Wusthof Classic knives. I am also prejudice against people having a ton of specialty knives and got along for years with just a chef's knife, a paring knife, a bread knife, and a carving knife. I have added three additional types of knives in the last couple of years: a fish/filet knife, a cleaver, and now a tomato knife. The filet and cleaver only get used when I have fresh fish and the cleaver only gets used when I am preparing bones for broth - maybe two times a month because we don't eat a great deal of animal product. They are both valuable additions to my kitchen but may not be for yours. Now the tomato knife Is another story. I love fresh tomatoes, being in California we eat them year round. I have owned this knife fewer than ten days and have used it almost every day. It is so nice to slice the tomatoes without effort. Note that according to Wusthof the pointy end is so that you don't need a fork to move your slice tomatoes. Last word of wisdom - buying good knives is important if you like to cook and buying them on line is great but I also think that you need to go to a brick and mortar to find out if the knife is comfortable in your hand. It should feel balanced and not too big or too heavy. Wusthof feels great to me but my little tiny mother in law finds them too big for her hand.

wonderful knife
I bought this as a gift for my son.. I have a full set of Wusthof Classic knives that I purchased in Germany in the mid 70's. but this is my favorite Go-To knife. I use it for everything... cutting vegetables, bread, meats. They are wonderful knives and last forever

LOVE this tomato knife
I bought it years ago for tomatoes since you could spear the diced pieces to get them to the plate - there were always a few left I needed to grab. Ended up using it for bread and other things since it had that nice serrated edge. It was my go to knife when I didn't want to sharpen the others. Easily cut through so much stuff. My spouse took it to use at a potluck lunch at someone's house and I never got it back. Missed it so much I had to buy another. Someone got a nice find from that potluck.

This is my favorite knife-- I use it for everything
This is my favorite knife-- I use it for everything. It's a solid serrated knife that is good for bread and meat in addition to tomatoes. I just ordered this replacement after I lost my original. I love the "pick" on the end for removing the tops of tomatoes. I'm sure Wusthof's "Gourmet" line tomato knife is decent, but it's worth the extra money to buy the higher-end "Classic" line. I had my previous tomato knife for 15 years, and it was still sharp and beautiful.

Great tomato knife
I love tomatoes and this knife is perfect for slicing them into very thin slices. I didn’t think I’d like the tip of it but it really does do a great job picking up these thin slices.

wusthof classic is the best
The Wusthof Classic is a full tang knife. This means the metal blade goes all the way through the handle and makes for a much stronger knife. (This is not the case with the Wusthof Gourmet.) The knife is very sturdy and very sharp. The serrated edges and double-point end make it perfect for cutting difficult fruit such as tomatoes, plums, etc. I gave this to my german mother for Christmas and she was ecstatic.
