Turning Tool Sharpening Setter Tormek TTS-100

This jig does a fantastic job and is so much fun to use that I sat down and sharpened every one of my lathe chisels. It’s super easy to use and makes sharpening a breeze.

Does what it says

Seems a bit expensive, but as with all Tormek products it is well-made and works well. I am really appreciative that Tormek continues to innovate with new products, *AND* make them backwards compatible to older Tormek models.One compromise with the TTS-100 is that it limits your choices to a few different angles, which is the reason for my 4-star rating rather than 5-star. But for most situations, the angles provided are sufficient, and the time-savings in setup -- both at the grinding wheel and the leather strop -- make it worthwhile.I have re-ground my bowl and spindle gouges, as well as my skews, using settings supported by the TTS-100. The angles are a little different than what I was used to, but it was easy to adapt and the time savings each time I sharpen makes it worthwhile. It always took me several trial-and-error tries to get the angle right with the old "color the bevel" method, but with the TTS-100 I can dial in the proper angle first time, every time.Something not mentioned in the description is that there are magnets on the back, which allow convenient storage right on the front of the Tormek grinder.A good piece of engineering that saves a ton of setup time. Highly recommended if you're a woodturner!

Works as advertised. Makes setting up a grinder for gouges very easy, and most importantly very repeatable. Works with my Grizzly 10", and I'm sure works with the Jet version. I also use it with a 6" dry grinder, for heavy material removal when reshaping a tool (with the Tormek BGM-100).There are a lot of angles/grinds achievable. The instructions have a table of "basic" bowl & spindle gouge angles/grinds, but there is another expanded table with more. Others can be developed on your own with some testing. The flexibility of this item with the gouge jig is impressive.

Tormek is excellent tool sharpening equipment. Pricey yes but priceless in performance.The TormekTTS-100 insures precision repeat ability when sharpening and re sharpening lathe gouges.
