Equipped with Dyson's signature Ball technology, this upright vacuum cleaner easily twists and turns around furniture and obstacles for thorough cleaning throughout the house--no more missed angles or tiresome back-and-forth vacuuming. Its ball design encapsulates the machine's powerful motor, creating a low center of gravity for even easier maneuverability. Designed for homes with pets, the unit's motorized brushbar features powerful bristles that remove dirt and pet hair from carpets, while its mini turbine head thoroughly cleans confined spaces such as upholstery, stairs, and the car. It also supplies a quick-draw Telescope Reach wand, which expands to offer 16 feet of reach for stairs, drapes, upholstery, and more. The vacuum cleaner uses Root Cyclone technology to separate dirt from the air by centrifugal force, which ensures efficient cleaning with no clogging or loss of suction. For cleaner expelled air, the unit comes with a washable lifetime HEPA filter that traps microscopic allergens such as pollen and bacteria. In fact, the air expelled from a Dyson has up to 150 times less bacteria and mold than the air you breathe, and all Dyson uprights are certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. The unit's hygienic 1/3-gallon bin quickly empties without ever having to touch the dust--just press the button and dust empties from the bottom; the clear polycarbonate bin also allows for easily viewing the cleaning progress and gauging when it needs to be emptied. Other highlights include fingertip controls, a constant suction power of 220 air watts, a 24-3/5-foot cord, a maximum reach of 40-2/7 feet, and a lightweight design at only 16-1/8 pounds. On-board accessory tools include a combination tool and a stair tool attachment. The vacuum cleaner measures 12-1/5 by 15-2/5 by 42-2/5 inches and carries a five-year parts-and-labor warranty.

Dyson is all hype, no quality, no support
I bought this 2 years ago as a lighter weight replacement for a Kirby handed down from my grandfather. I like that it is lighter weight but that's the end of what I like about it.--If you're going to use the hose and attachments, the vacuum cleaner body will be biting your ankle like a yippy little dog because of the short, elastic hose.--Cleaning a hardwood floor without using the hose / attachments doesn't work well - leaves a lot of stuff on the floor.--Cleaning the filters properly will leave you without a vacuum for a week or more. Read other reviews on killing the vacuum after cleaning the filters.--Most importantly, Dyson's poorly thought out design for the hose and substandard plastics leads to the hose getting cracks and breaking, which reduces the suction dramatically. Then Dyson refuses to replace the hose under warranty, claiming this is a "wear and tear" item, which they charge $45 plush S/H to replace. The hose from my grandfather's Kirby is still perfectly functional, which proves that a properly designed hose is not a wear and tear item.I'll be going back to Kirby.

Our 2nd Dyson
This review is for those who already own a Dyson and are looking to buy one as a gift or to replace an older model. For those who have never bought a Dyson.... stop reading and buy the DC25! Ok, for the rest of us.... I would like to compare the DC25 Animal to the DC07 (one of Dyson's earliest models). Our DC07 broke down... RIP old friend.Good points on DC07:- Cord length is awesome. I can vacuum the entire living room/dining area without changing outlets.- Bucket size is bigger than the DC25 and is easier to empty. It is also easier to put back into the cleaner.- Bigger motor. (Although the DC25 is supposed to be more efficient.)- Quieter. This is because the DC25 has 2 motors (one for the main motor, and a separate one for the floor bristles). Turn the bristles off on the DC25 and they are about the same.Good points on DC25:- Much more efficient. I steam cleaned the carpet last week, then used the DC25.... OMG there was a ton of dog hair! I didn't even see it on the floor!- Narrower. This is a benefit because you can go between chair legs (I couldn't before).- The ball. Need I say more? The ball is awesome. You can turn on a dime. The form factor also allows you to go further under couches.- The Animal has a cool vacuum attachment for the arm extention. Although they didn't include a spot to put it on the cleaner. :(- Two additional filters that can be hand cleaned.- You can turn off the bristles on the floor suction. There is a separate button.- Lighter.Bad points to DC25:- The arm extention is clumsy. The DC07 wasn't great either, but the extention on the DC25 appears heavier and is much shorter in comparison.- Cord length is too short.- The bucket seems cheaply made and doesn't easily snap in when you put it back into the vacuum.- The cool vacuum attachment doesn't have a place in the cleaner.

Happy with my Dyson
After we moved to our new house, our old vacuum started to lose suction and eventually lost it completely. We have three cats and a dog, so it's very important that we have a great vacuum. We bought the Dyson DC25 Animal Ball about a month ago to replace the old vacuum, and I have been very happy with it so far.PROS* Lightweight / compact design - I know some have said that they think it's heavy, but I guess it's all relative. This vacuum is much lighter than any other vacuum I've had before. I have no problem carrying it up and down our tight spiral staircase. The compact design makes the machine easy to store. The extension wand slides inside the back of the machine and doubles as the handle, which declutters the machine.* Great suction - I think this model has plenty of suction and does a great job cleaning our carpets. ~ Some have complained about their suction and about the machine not "fluffing" their carpet. We have berber carpeting throughout our home, so maybe the machine works better on dense carpet or carpeting with a low pile. In any case, this machine is far better than our old machine that sucked at sucking.* Canister - The canister fits well against the machine's gasket, so nothing leaks through. The canister is also easy to empty; a trigger releases the bottom and the waste falls into your trash can. ~ Some have complained about pet hair getting stuck in the canister, but I don't find this to be a problem. It's just the nature of the beast. I would rather have the hair in the canister than on my carpet. ~ Some reviewers say that the canister is too small. My last vacuum's canister was only slightly larger and that machine was much bigger/bulkier. The compact design of the Dyson may limit the capacity of the canister, but I don't mind dumping it more often.* Maneuverability - The ball design really does make this machine easier to maneuver. It turns on a dime and cuts down the length of time it takes to vacuum the house. My mother has the Dyson Animal model without the ball, and when she visited and used my machine, she said that she wished she had gotten the one with the ball because it was much easier to use.CONS* Cord length - The cord on my last vacuum was very long, so in comparison, this one seems short. I can still vacuum at least a whole room without moving to a new outlet, so it could be worse.* Attachment storage - not all of the attachments can be stored on board the machine. In the end, I love this machine and it does a great job cleaning my carpets.
