For the incomplete completist
Let me start that I'm a bit of an obsessive FFVII fan - I've been playing it on average probably once every year & a half/2 years since it came out. I love Advent Children, but I've never got into the rest of the compilation for a few reasons - 1) no mobile phone in Japan (Before Crisis), 2) no desire to invest in a PSP for 1 game, even though I have had every other PS platform (Crisis Core - really waiting for a port there Square!), & 3) I was unable to get past the bad reviews for the PS2 game (Dirge of Cerberus). But one of the great things about this book is how you get the entire linear story for the complete (to date) FFVII universe. So that alone is worth the purchase. But it also delves into the creation of the game & how it was built upon existing gaming standards, &, of course, how it had to innovate & diverge from those. It covers the influences of the game, from the obvious mythological & previous RPG ones, to the ways the newer technology drove development. There were even moments brought about through the creators' personal experiences. One other thing I thought was cool was that this was written by some French gaming magazine writers, so it was neat to get that occasional hint of flavor from a European perspective (so often, it seems I only hear about American & Japanese reception). & yes, it is in English :) - not sure why only the French version was available on Kindle (at the time I bought it anyway).Overall, a very worthwhile book to add to your collection if it's something you're interested in - I am glad I added it to mine!

A Great Guide for a Great Series
The Final Fantasy VII book to end all books. While no pictures it is an excellent write up on the history and lore of FFVII, which prior to Advent Children was never explored. I believe all the series are their own contained universes and we always did wonder what all the connections are with the characters. It does not cover stats or anything like previous guides but cuts to the thoughts and story of all the characters. It covers the whole of the world and the politics.SPOILER Alert: This does cover the struggle of the extinct Cetra race and the calamity from the sky Jenova.

Very detailed storyline explanation
Even if you're a diehard FFVII fan, it's super easy to miss pieces of the story. This book does a tremendous job of bringing it all together. Well done!

Great read if you don't know the whole story
Book comes shrink wrapped. Some of the print isn't clean and is faded. Great book overall. Grew up with the American version of ff7 so the translation in game was missing a lot. The book tells much about the game, the story, how it was made. For someone who knows it all already it's a book to have on the shelf, for the rest, it's a great read.

Talks about the soul that went into ff7
I loved this book and wish every videogame had a book like this dedicated to it. In this book it tells the story of the game and after that there are a bunch of chapters on development and inspiration that went into the game as well as the themes and philosophy the game had. It also talks about advent children and other spin offs so it's everything but the remake

Wonderful book on VII
I think the book is incredibly interesting and a must for any FFVII fan. But the author is quite biased in some things (saying that Cloud and Tifa // Aerith and Zack were madly in love, depicting Cloud and Aerith as only friends), which I thought was pretty surprising for what I thought to be an unbiased depiction of the story. BUT the other parts are wonderful, and it's still worth a buy for sure.

A good retelling marred by poor grammar
A comprehensive retelling of the entire Final Fantasy 7 history. The grammar is quite obviously off in parts, which is unfortunate considering the price of the book.
