Zoo Med Dimmable Clamp Lamp with Dimmer Switch (8.5)

I really appreciate this lamp. It is well made and the dimmer allows for me to more easily control the temperature and brightness, making the lamp work for a variety of enclosure sizes and multiple different species. It is far easier than trying to find the proper bulb wattage for every species and terrarium size.

I got this to use over my keyboard. My house is freezing in the winter and this heat lamp works great. My husband wanted one for his keyboard also when he saw how warm it was for my hands, Adjustable heat, it is just perfect with no light glare from a bulb. No more frozen fingers in the morning. Not really a design statement for the design minded but who cares if your hands are warm. Perfect!

I bought this to hold a CHE bulb for my hedgehog.Pros:- It has a dimmer switch that seems to work well enough.- The lamp holds the CHE bulb just fine and keeps the pen well heated.Cons:- The clamp is nothing special. I don't even use it anymore because it wasn't staying put on the side of the cage. I have the lamp sitting on a metal grid wide part down to heat the pen downwards.Note: The clamp might work better on an external side table or shelving wall and pointed to the cage/pen rather than trying to attach it directly to the cage/pen.

The switch broke after 11 months. Luckily zoo med replaced it. It keeps my turtle warm on those colder days. It hangs from a hook above the screen top of his home.

Not the size I was expecting. Overall, it’s a good light.

I don’t know how many stars to give because it’s not the manufacturer fault. It is a great looking lamp, but unfortunately the lamp arrived dented. Also, the directions on the insert says not to use ceramic bulbs, although Amazon literally offers a ceramic bulb to purchase with this lamp. I guess I need to return both.

This lamp has been great to use with the ceramic infrared heat emitter 100 watts. Keeps my pigeons snugly warm in the cold CA nights of winter. OK, CA isn't Minnesota, but they seem to love the extra warmth at night to keep the chill at bay. Very easy to hang in or outside their cage. I love the variable on/off switch that allows me to control the temp.

I use this on top of my beardie tank with a ceramic heat emitter. So far so good and I just adjust the dimmer switch to dial in the perfect night time temperature. As I've gone from fall to winter, I've had to turn it up a bit at night. I wanted the dimmer just for this purpose.I would buy again to use with a CHE, but would probably not spend the extra money to use with a basking bulb.
