Toy Story 3 Buzz Lightyear Deluxe Action Wing Pack

My father sent the Buzz Lightyear Deluxe Action Wing Pack for our 5 year-old for Christmas (from Amazon). It was GREAT. In fact, I would say it is one of the greatest toys ever invented for a preschooler. This is not an exaggeration. My 3 year-old was so smitten that we immediately ordered a set for him. To avoid jealousy issues, I put the first set away until the second set arrived. Amazon shipped it promptly and joy broke out in our house. To Infinity And Beyond! I couldn't get away from Buzz and Buzz Jr. for one whole day. Then one of the wings stopped working on the second unit. We packed the first one way and sent the newest set back to Amazon. They promptly shipped us a replacement. This time Buzz and Buzz Jr. flew around the house for a whole 5 days. Then, Buzz Jr.'s wings broke again. That's right -- the replacement lasted a mere 5 days. Amazon had no more wing packs so they refunded our money. I put the first set away, planning to bring it back out when we got another set from Toys R Us or another retailer. I assumed that Amazon simply got a bad batch. Well, my aunt just sent a new set of wings. The new set works, but the original set from Amazon does not. ARGH!!!!! I changed the batteries. Twice. Yes, both sets of batteries were fresh. But I'm not getting any sound or lights or anything. The unit is not working at all.My sons were not rough with these wings. They did not bang into walls. They simply wore them on their backs. But there is clearly a problem with the wiring. So, to summarize:My family has had 3 of these wing packs from Amazon.The original unit was used for maybe 10 days total.The second unit lasted a whole 24 hours.The third unit lasted maybe 5 days.We cannot get a refund/exchange for the original unit because Christmas was over 30 days ago. Amazon did replace the second unit and sent a refund for the replacement.Would I spend $100 or $125 on a set of these wings if the quality improved significantly and they were guaranteed to work? YES.Would I advise anyone to buy the current wing pack from Amazon? NO. Your child's joy will turn to heartache. The heartache isn't worth it.

This is a great addition to the Buzz Lightyear costume I bought on Amazon and it makes a perfect ensemble for creative play. I read prevous reviews and I think this product may have undergone some revisions from a previous version and in my opinion they've worked out the kinks. It's easy to put on and take off your toddler. It has a clip on the chest and my 3 1/2 yr old can put it on without help. The sound effects and Buzz's voice are clear and although some reviews say that it's loud, I didn't think it was obnoxiously loud. No louder than my little guy who is having a blast with this. The wings extend and retract automatically with a touch of a button. How cool is that! When you run around it makes flying sounds. Just try to keep your kid off the sofa - oh, and the toy does caution that it is not a flying device - duh. It's a little pricey, but given some of the electronic alternatives I've seen, this is a much better buy than many other toy options. Very glad I made this purchase and it is getting a lot of play time. It's also a nice option for a child who might not always have a playmate. This is a toy that works out great for solo playtime or group playtime. Also, wings fold in for storage and it doesn't take up much space.

I bought this for my 3-year-old son. He was already a big fan of everything Toy Story and especially Buzz and Woody. With this wing pack, he has been zooming all over the yard and inside. It took him a little while to understand you should always retract your wings prior to walking through a doorway. It has been wonderful to watch the look on his face when he expands and retracts the wings. Never gets old. I just wish they made these things in adult size. I know a lot of Dads in the neighborhood that feel the same way. We all watch with envy.

I thought I was getting the toy story 3 deluxe but instead got the inflatable wings...that was not what was advertised!

My son is 3 1/2. He loves to zoom around with "my wings on." I am actually pretty impressed with the construction of the device. The wings will bend back if he runs to close to a wall and clips it (or other kid). The wings open quickly and close quickly, but they are easily stopped. To reset, just cycle them again, after clicking a bit, they are back in sync. Disappointing that the other buttons don't talk like in the movie. How hard would that have been?

My nephew freaking loves it. that's all he was asking for his buzz wings. I was going to get the cheaper inflatable ones but then i saw that these went up a down and a push of a buttong and I decided to spend the whole lot more on these and i'm happy i did. plus if he walks into something or clips the wall, the wings have a hinge on them so they will go backwards without fear of breaking. Getting it to arrive though was another story.

This was for my son's birthday. It was his favorite toy by far. But after about 2 hours the wings stopped responding to the button press. They open or close maybe 1 out of every 20 attempts, and only if the toy is shaken while pressing the button. It seems likely that one of the wire connections internally was not connected well.Amazon is sending a replacement so I am going to give it another shot and hope this was just a fluke.Note: The only button on the chest plate that does anything is the big red button that opens the wings. As expensive as this toy is I think the little buttons on the other side should trigger Buzz's voice or something. Every person and kid at the party pressed those fake buttons expecting Buzz to talk.But if the next one works longer than 2 hours then I would have to say it is a hit since my 4 year old son LOVES it. I would upgrade the rating on this review to reflect more stars in that case. His little face when it stopped working was pitiful. He said "That was my favorite toy" :-(
