is this knife good for salt water?

No! This knife is made of carbon steel and will rust. There are other versions of this same knife such as this one (http://www.amazon.com/Mora-Companion-Stainless-Steel-Fixed/dp/B004ZAIXSC/ref=pd_sim_sg_8 ) in stainless that would be much better suited for use around salt water.

Is this knife full tang?

how sharp does the knife come??? Does the sheath keep the knife held in place??? Will the back of this blade work with my fire steel??

The knives come sharp and hold an edge. The sheath holds the knife snug and the knife snaps in. I use mine as a neck knife. I filed a flat edge on the back of the blade next to the handle for that purpose and it works well. I love these knives and own several. I have given a lot away and everyone has loved them.
