He can probably hear you now. Hearing you and ignoring you are two different things completely. If you buy this it will be more difficult, but still not impossible, for him to ignore you. If he's dead then he won't be able to hear you no matter what electronic aids you use. If that's the case then you probably need a new husband as the old one is no longer subject to the jet-turbine like whine of your voice.

what does the siren sound like?

It's loud and it sounds kinda of like the siren the police can use to warn you (not the one they pull you over with).

How loud is this thing? I have rednecks living behind me always playing with cars and trucks that sound like tanks. Will they hear me yelling at them?

It projects across a WHOLE football field. Can hear over 100 talking students! I don't even use it on max volume. Words might not be super clear over cars and trucks, but there is a loud siren that sounds just like cop sirens.

Nope. Batteries aren't included. It needs 4 D batteries.
