Can’t beat it for the price (Still)
Other than having to swap the tail housing to match my exhaust (reused the old one) and making sure it’s properly assembled and lubricated before start up; it’s a relatively straightforward swap onto an 02 Cummins 24v. Even the waste gate actuator being in the way of clocking the charge side to the stock position you can wriggle the charge horn around in the first boot and get it to fit. The wastegate hose was too short so I also had to use the one from my old turbo. Also it’s a tight squeeze going in if you have the stock oil filter location intact, but the wastegate actuator does fit nice and close to the transmission cooler/heat exchanger. The turbo spins nice, and right out of the box will build about 12 lbs without touching it. They’ve got a chincy silencer ring that isn’t worth leaving in. First 250 miles on the truck drove smooth as glass though. May update later if I tweak a bit more boost out of it with some pre-load on the wastegate spring and possibly a restricting elbow. Bang for the buck 5/5. Longevity...? I’ll let you know if it explodes. Buy yourself a good gasket kit and a new oil feed line, should be able to reuse everything else including the drain, unless you mangle it taking it out.EDIT: 5 years later, almost to the day. 60k Miles later.Turbo still tight, whistles to the hills. Good air filter and make sure it’s got good oil and this Turbo-ne will last. Still can’t complain about it but I’m only asking it to build 18psi around 300hp. Obviously if you wanna boost to the moon go with a BIGGER turbo, this thing is stock-ish.Still get 30mpg with the truck on the daily. EGT’s around town stay low and towing stable 900’s.The cheap tin gaskets they sent with it are the only thing I would change out day one, don’t bother installing them. Get a good flange gasket.Picture is current (5 years/60kMi) and untouched other than to check lash and play, of which there is still virtually zero.I hope everyone’s experience with BlackHorse is as stellar.

You get what you pay for.
Purchased it to run on my 1st get Cummins, adjusted waste gate for optional boost and could never reach over 25psi from the get. My factory h1c could do that with the other current mods. Bearings are shot and lead to turbo failure within 2 months of pulling my 18’ boat on the weekends.

6.5 Detroit upgrade works great
Upgraded to this from the gm-4 boost is much better cooler EGTs had to turn the wastegate down to 15 for the 6.5 to live but Cummins guys it’ll boost to 20 and spike to 25 works great for the money“Not a direct replacement for the 6.5 I knew this going into it” but does make a great upgrade for and old Detroit diesel.any Cummins owner that tows go with a hx40 you and your EGTs can thank me later.

Solid budget turbo for your 5.9 cummins
Turbo is actually more responsive that stock. Be sure to check all alignments to match yours. Mine was not aligned for oil fill nor drain. Just loosen and twist. The the turbo housing was off. I just hit with palm of hand to spin into place.

Not a just bolt in. Have to clock it to fit
Works after you have to clock the intake side and exhaust side . So it doesn't just bolt in place of original one. So if you don't have mechanical skills don't buy

This is NOT what it appears
This turbocharger is NOT a replacement for part# 3592766 as the description states, it is also NOT a replacement for ANY HX35W turbocharger. This turbo has a 10cm exhaust housing considerably smaller than any HX35 which has a 12cm exhaust housing. The only thing you’ll get by replacing a HX35W turbo with this unit is higher exhaust gas temps, less power and a shorter engine life. Until these sellers start learning and taking responsibility for what they’re selling instead of blindly drop shipping these things from who knows where they can continue to eat the return shipping costs because this ones headed right back to where it came from.

Good turbo for the price
The hose for the waist gate could have a been a few inches longer the way I had to clock my turbo the hose that came with the turbo did not work but I found one at a auto parts store that works great other than that for the price the turbo is good and does fit a 1991 dodge Cummins.
