Bags are heat resistant; plastic slide clips are not!
These bags work great on car camping trips. Make meals in advance, freeze them in the bags, throw them in a cooler, then warm them up when you need a meal. Though they really stink when you first receive them, they don't impart any flavor to the food that I can tell (after soaking them for a few days in saltwater as reocmmended). There are a few definite limitations of these, however. First is, they stain. No matter how you try to clean them, tomato sauces or curries will stain them red, yellow, orange.Second, they are not 100% watertight. You can verify this by filling up, sliding on the clip, and squeezing. If you completely submerge the bag in a pot of hot water, the water takes on a definitely aroma of whatever you are heating up. And I believe it goes both ways -- I think water can seep into the bag, leading to very soggy food. Finally, note that the clips can melt! Not at the temperature of boiling water. But one time I was heating, the clip was hanging over the edge of the pot, and the flames from the camp stove melted it. Now that clip doesn't seal well anymore. (I didn't have this problem using an induction plate, but I switched to propane to save battery power in my van.)So the challenge with these is trying to situate them in the pot so that the bag is submerged, but the clip is not, AND the clip does not hang over the edge of the pot. Or use an induction plate and keep the clip hanging out.BTW, for microwave use they are the bomb.

Easy to use, help reduce plastics use
I take my lunch to work almost every day, and every time I use a disposable zip-lock bag I feel guilty. Admittedly, there are other choices, and I've tried some of them, and they all have advantages and weaknesses. I have used silicon bags in the past, so it's not my first time at the rodeo. My problem is that, until you get used to the specific sealing mechanism, you are not going to be happy with them. The first thing you have to notice is that there is a tab on each of these bags-see picture 4. The tab has a couple of uses. 1) it can be used to hang the bag up for storage, and 2) it's where you hold the bag when removing the sealer. As shown in the first photo, there is a large end on the seal strip; this is the forward-facing part of the device. Ensuring grooves are aligned on the bag, introduce the large end of the slider-sealer onto the non-tabbed part of the bag. The bag seal can then be smoothly traversed by the sealer. Don't try to over-fill the bag, since it will prevent sealing. Then, to open the bag, hold the tab and pull firmly on the slide-sealer, and voila, you have an open bag. This product is particularly nice because the bags open up at the bottom, which allows you to pour into the bag on the counter while keeping the bag open with your non-dominant hand. Don't be crazy and burn yourself, though; the bag will take it but your hand won't.This set is a particularly nice one, in that it comes with 4 smaller bags, which are ideal for taking a lunch, and two larger bags for storage of bigger items. It also comes with a drawstring cloth storage bag, and a silicon scrubber that is ideal for cleaning the bags after use, as well as cleaning pans with non-stick coatings. The most intransigent problem I've encountered is that I run out of bags before I run out of stuff to store in them. They are really amazing , durable and multiply useful.

Great overall, but some foods dry out
I really like these bags. I've been using them for about 4 months now, and they've been great. They're easy to use - I didn't find the slide bars that hard to slide on like some reviewers did. And they're easy to clean. I've cleaned them by hand and put them in the dishwasher, and both methods have worked fine. (When I put them in the dishwasher, I do rinse them well first to make sure nothing gets stuck in the corners.)I use them most frequently for freezing food. I like them for that because they're reusable and more durable than a ziploc, but they're more space efficient than a tupperware-type container. To thaw the food, I just put the bag in warm water.I've noticed that they don't really stand up when they're totally empty, but once you have a little bit in the bottom, they stay upright and open which makes it easier to fill them. They haven't leaked on me, but I have had things, especially cheese, start drying out after being stored for a while. That's pretty much the only downside I've found.

The silicone tears after many uses
I like these bags and I use them constantly. But after being zipped and unzipped many times, they tear and then must be thrown away. They are still more economical than Ziplocks, but not a forever solution.

So far, so good
I bought a couple sets of these because plastic zip lock type bags are expensive and a burden on landfills. These bags are great for produce, meat, cheese, sauces, and whatever else you can fit in them. I have used them in the freezer, and they performed as expected. I have not tried to boil them, but I am sure they would do fine. The closure strips are a bit stiff at first, but they loosen up over time. They need to be tight to keep the bags leak resistant. The bags have held up to the dishwasher without any issues. The only down side is the size. The space is a bit limited in these.I recommend these bags as a way to reduce disposable plastic bag use and waste.

Very sturdy, and easy to clean reusable ziploc bags- love them!
After throwing away so many ziploc bags for so many years, I finally decided to try reusable storage bags. Out of all the ones on Amazon, these were the only ones that were bpa free, phthalates free, plus free from many other ingredients that I don't really know. You have to get a little used to using these sticks (a little hard to put on) -the reason is that they make a very tight seal. No worries about dripping. I primarily use the bags for freezing leftovers and to marinate meat. One of the other biggest selling points of these bags are that they are dishwasher safe. I usually give them a rinse and then hang the bags (not the sticks) in the lower rack of the dishwasher. Easy peasy! These silicone bags are quite sturdy, so I think they will last a long time. Definitely worth getting for those of us who want to be more eco-friendly.
