Osprey has been in hand since 1974, owner and founder Mike Pfotenhauer who created the first backpack for 16. In Santa Cruz, California, a young entrepreneur opened a retail store in front of renters. That's why backpackers and travelers have been looking for a custom-fit and custom pack assembled by Mike himself for days. As the demand for great packs grew, Osprey relocated to their current home in southwest Colorado. Today, Osprey is a melting pot of diverse personalities, backgrounds and abilities.
