To offset a few bad reviews with some 2020 reality - could not be happier with a quality product :)
Note - please see update at end also.I want to put some things straight about the few reviews that nearly stopped me buying this monitor:1) The stand works perfectly well and DOES adjust vertically. It's robust and high quality in fact.2) The guy who's complaining about not being able to adjust the brightness on Mac obviously didn't look for the freeware extension that lets you do just that from your Mac keyboard. On top of that, when I use this monitor with my work PC it takes moments to adjust the brightness on this monitor - that really was an extended rant. Maybe the stand thing was true in 2018, but I bought mine in April 2020 apparently and mine's been great for 18 months of daily work and studio use.The actual screen quality isn't a patch on my retina screen obviously, but that's not why I bought it. This is a great quality widescreen with 2 USB C ports in addition to the 2 USB and I'll never go back to a small screen. In short - don't be put off by the bad reviews - try it and if by some strange misfortune you experience these issues which have happily eluded me, return it. Just buy one - they cost more right now than when I bought mine a year and a half ago, so I feel supremely happy with 18 months of essentially free and quality use. Just another perspective - hope this helps :)UPDATE: After 21 months I experienced intermittent issues and finally realised I had a fault and the monitor became unusable. I was surprised and happy to see that I had a 2 year pick-up-from-customer warranty. Samsung help lines are 24 hours and after some back and forth because of the intermittent nature of the issue, Samsung sent out a courier with a box and packing provided and took it away for repair. This morning I got a series of emails talking me through the progress and the eventual repair. New main board. Now, I haven't got my monitor back after a week away and you may say that such a fault after just under 2 years is poor, but I have to say that I feel that I've had great service from a company that goes out of its way to look after in warranty repairs as easily as possible. If I don't update this again, it means that all is well and I'm leaving my 5 star review despite - and to a degree because of - this episode. It's a good monitor with a good hub which I've been missing sorely and can't wait to have back.

Good but not great
I bought this as an external monitor for a new macbook air, retina 2019. Key features for me were real estate, sharpness of text and clarity of pictures, ability to charge my mac with the cable connecting to the monitor (as I have only 2 USB-C ports) and speakers.POSITIVESIt s wide screen, a little short or thin - top to bottom...but good, plenty of real estate and so sign of the white light bleed I have seen others report. It was easy to set up.The menu - activated by a button behind the screen in the bottom right corner - is easy to navigate. It comes with USBC and HDMI cables, and the USBC charges my mac as well as connecting the monitor. The USB hub in the back of the monitor is great - USB cable charges my phone and synchs it to my laptop (saving another need for a port on my mac)NEGATIVESThe text could be sharper. I have used Dell ultrasharp monitors before, and chose this Samsung product over the similar Dell 34" ultrasharp largely due to cost - the Dell was ~£180 more. However I would be interested to compare as I believe the Dell may be worth itThe speakers on the monitor are good - lacking a little bass but good. The only annoyance is that there is no volume control - you have to control the volume in each application.I tried buying this direct from Samsung to get their 3 year warranty - it was out of stock and they couldn't say when it would be back in stock.I bought it from Amazon instead, ~£50 cheaper, delivered in 48 hours, and a 2 rather than 3 year warranty.SUMMARYIts a good monitor, you get used to the curve quickly (and its quite a curve) and the picture and sound are good.At ~£750 is good enough? Would an extra £180 for the Dell have bought me great?
