Great value - use with care
Been working on vehicles for 19 years, State Certified Master Auto Tech and automotive engineer. And I STILL almost broke this tool. Was a little hesitant to buy after reading some other reviews but I think I know what happened. This is a well built tool. Good materials, nice knurling and almost looks like a hardened heat treated foot piece. You have to be careful when compressing the springs, especially the rear cylinders if using in-vehicle. It's very hard to see where the head casting is back there and the heel of the spring compressor can get stuck between the head and the follower. This can bend the spring foot. Also it's possible to install a follower and then have the tool get stuck underneath it and when you try to remove it. You have to be very gentle to not bend the little feet. It's not the tool design fault, it's the nature of the beast for such a tight area. For the number 4 and 8 cylinder inboard cam followers (5.4L in 2008 F-150) I had to install prior to number 3 and 7 followers in order to give the tool room to wiggle out. And vice versa when removing. #3 and 7 had to come out first. It was much easier to remove the wheel well liner and work through that space for the rear cylinders. You can see exactly where the tool is contacting spring and head and I was much less prone to bending it.The only thing I would change is add some loctite to the threads of the little cap under the big threaded part. It worked itself loose while I was using the tool and if that thing pops off and goes drops down, you could have a very bad day. See pic of where I'm talking about. This can be a frustrating job. Take your time and don't force the tool. I believe the negative reviews were user error, I almost did it myself. Saved me alot of money over the OTC tool, would buy again as a home mechanic.

Excellent tool for changing cam followers on Ford 4.6 v3 engine.
I had read many mixed reviews about this tool or other tools similar to this one. I cannot speak to the others BUT this tool is a good quality tool for the job it was intended for. Use as instructed and you will be pleased. 1. Relieve cam follower you are working on by turning the crank to position high Lobe up and gain clearance. 2. Be sure you place forked bars completely through to the other side of the head. 3. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREW DOWN NUT AND BOTTOM OUT TIGHT. That will possibly result in re-positioning the bushing in the fork bar, causing it to freeze in place making it very difficult to remove in a tight place, as you will experience some tight places back toward the firewall of vehicle. 4. As you tighten down the nut, watch the valve spring and valve stem and be sure the keepers to not slip out of place and free the valve to drop into cylinder. Watch and simple use a small screw driver to check these keepers and push down if needed. **These instructions and Youtube videos could really help in this job. Patience, Patience, Patience. This not a fast job, but can be done successfully.

Be Patient while learning how to use tool. Works great!
This tool is a must for removing the cam on Ford 3V. Works great once you figure out how it works. Be patient, you will get it! Be very careful when compressing the springs and make sure the valve goes down with the spring so your spring retainer doesnโt come out and the. You will have serious problems.

Exactly as the OEM Ford Rotunda Tool
Works as it is supposed to. It's a fraction of the cost of the Ford Tool but works as good! I work for a Ford dealer and we lost the original till Ford sent us, so I ordered this since I could get it in two days. I wasn't expecting quality to be as good as the Ford tool but it is exactly like the original one.

How do you guys bend these?
Not sure how when used properly this would bend. You need only finger-tight pressure to compress the valve spring. Sure it has a hex, but put the wrench down and use your hands.Worked flawlessly for what I needed it for.

It works great
It works as it was meant to work . If you have to use a lot of force to make it work, it's not set up correctly. I have used this more than once and it had not failed
