Yes, your camera can use all EF and EF-S lenses. This is a great lens too, probably the best telephoto for under a grand. Sharp, fairly quick AF, and a very useful range, it’s hard to beat. Just make sure you are in good light, since the variable aperture goes down to F5.6 after 200mm. If possible, take a look on eBay for better deals; since this lens is bundled with new cameras often, there are lots of them being sold on eBay for about 150 USD brand new. Also, there are refurbs on Amazon for about the same that will have some amount of warranty on them.

EF-S means that it'll go only on APS-C sensors. So yes it will be compatible with a rebel t6i, but not with a full frame body (5d or 6d for example).
