Is this psyllium husk powder gluten free?

It says on the ingredients list that it MAY contain gluten so presumably there are other products made in the same factory that process wheat, barley, rye and triticale which are the grains which do contain it. The psyllium husk itself is gluten free. It will only be trace elements so if you are trying to avoid gluten for a keto diet it's probably zero to extremely low gluten content and would be alright, but if you have coeliac disease and severe reactions to gluten, it might be too much of a risk.

Would this lower blood pressure or is something else more suitable

I have read that adding soluble fiber to your diet can help with the control of diabetes. If you google the benefits of taking psyllium husk you will find some info. Be sure to take it with a very large glass of water.

The listed carbs on the package is it net carbs or total carbs?

In fact, it is 100% carbohydrate as is all fibre - but it is not digestible by the body and so it is counted as not having any calorific value. However, the hugely beneficial gut flora - the bacteria there - absolutely love it, and thrive on it. The gut wall does not allow it to pass through to the blood through the microvilli. It is soluble fibre in that it absorbs water - as opposed to insoluble fibre like cellulose which again is not digested (think of sawdust) and which just becomes bulking for stools.

Good clean product.

Purchased this to help with regularity! Reading the reviews re lumpy when mixing with water. I have no problem.8-10floz water in a glassAdd1 teaspoon husk powder (recommend starting low dose)Stir briskly for a good 30 secondsDrink it downAlso recommend having a short while before food or after to try and avoid bloating when first starting.The downside is the price. Very expensive for the amount you get. Especially if you want to use more for cooking.

Good product!!!!! Will it fit my needs?

I can’t fault the quality of the product…… However for my use I’m just not sure….I take daily opioids for pain relief…. They constipate me and for me that equals significant pain.So I decided to buy this along with an increase in my daily fibre. However I have now found out the following-Psyllium husks can absorb the pain medication and you should give 2 hours either side of taking any……. If not the meds will not be effective.That means I need to rethink my use.I also found that on mixing with water it goes lumpy….. I know others have commented that you need to add a little water and get a mix then add water….I’m just not getting that….. I will persevere as I plan to use this ad hoc to add when meds allow some extra fibre.This company however does produce some great products so I’m not critical of them in any manner.

Worked well, no purple bread!

This was really good for baking, even for a bread recipe that required quite a large amount, it didn't turn purple when baked like another brand that I tried. Will buy it again.
