Classy and whimsical stitch designs
I just discovered Sophie Simpson's books recently and I love them. Besides offering stitch designs that I'm looking forward to stitching, the book itself is beautiful to look at. To me, that's an added bonus: beautifully published (from the art to the texture of the paper), beautifully written, and ultimately useful, especially for stitching quick and classy gifts. The price is more than fair as well. A wonderful book!

Simple Designs
This book contains very simple designs that are suitable for a beginner. The instructions are excellent especially the finishing directions. I made the 'Miss Prance-A-Lot' wooden peg doll found on page 68.

Fairly comprehensible
Now we're finally talking. After downloading two or three books full of text but no step-by-step pictures, this one makes the job! Cute projects with uncomplicated text and understandable pictures. This is your book!

Cover beautiful, projects not so much.
The cover illustration is the nicest part of the book. The projects inside didn't live up to my expectations based on the cover. They are just so-so, and not colorful

Lovely collection of holiday patterns for every skill level.
There are 12 holiday projects in Stitch the Halls and there is a great mix of more classic projects and more modern ones. The patterns are really well designed and so many of them can be used outside of Christmas as well. All of the projects give an estimated completion time which I found extremely helpful. I have a terrible habit of underestimating how long things will take, but I stitched up a polar bear pattern and I found her estimate to be pretty close! There are patterns that take as little as 10 minutes to stitch, so you don't need a ton of time to make some unique Christmas decorations!Stitch the Halls is a really great collection of Christmas projects and the book is beautifully designed. Even if you've never stitched before, Sophie has a wonderful set of basic instructions and a clearly illustrated stitch directory so don't shy away if you're a beginner!

Gorgeous Christmas stitching projects!
This arrived today and I can see that it's another great book from What Delilah Did! This one focuses on Christmas and there are some gorgeous patterns for not just cross stitch but counted embroidery too. I particularly like the perpetual 'paper' chains and the dinky little Christmas sweaters which you can turn in to cards or decorations. There are four sections which cater for all Christmas tastes, from modern styles and colours to more 'cosy' and traditional Christmas themes. The instructions are well thought out and the diagrams are clear. I can't wait to get stitching!
