We own two!
The first time we bought this product for my husband, it was 2016 and for a 10-day trip to Israel. It was perfect-- lightweight, huge bladder, easy to refill. It held up very well on day hikes. We just repurchased because I grew annoyed with my hydration pack (different brand) and always admired how this one was easy to use/thread through the straps/fill up/etc. So, bought it again. They've definitely done some upgrades to the design in the past few years. The straw is more modern with a bite valve, and even a shut-off lever to help avoid dripping through the spout. I didn't have any leaks whatsover and found it to be comfortable on my 5'4" body. They HAVE changed the bladder slightly, so even though it's still a slide-closure, the mouth is smaller so it's not as easy to turn inside out to clean. Not a big deal-- the slide closure is so hard to find with hydration packs so that was the important part. Still a great bag!

Excellent customer service!
Update: after I have a 2 Star review the company contacted me and offered to replace the hyrdration bladder for free. They did this and I received it this week and it seems to work great!I was really excited for this. I used it to hike my first 14er. The backpack itself is great! Good quality and with lots of room for storage. The bladder, in theory, is also nice with lots of ways to clean it. However the bladder leaked. There’s a place where you push the button to detach to hose from the bladder leaked. It leaked enough that the backpack and my lower back were soaked for my entire hike. Very uncomfortable and disappointing!

Putting It Through The Ultimate Test
I really like the value I get for this bag but it barely made it though my intense week of hiking. I hiked about 4-6 hrs a day for 8 days. The fabric was fraying on the bottom but the bag still held up. During my hike i did see people in Zion park and Grand Cayon who had the same backpack (more for new hikers who don't plan to hike a lot)PROS1-*The size and comparments were great, enough room to ensure a bladder bag, sandwiches, snacks, sunscreen and then the miscellaneous items (cellphone, bandaids, small face towel, etc)2-The bladder is amazing and that is why I bought the bag, the bladder itself is vauled around 17$ it huge and sturdy. I got the 3L when I only needed a 2L because I wanted to have extra room for ice since i was hiking during July in 80-110+ weather. The insulated tube kept the water from burning up but didn't keep the water cold (still great since most of my hike was in 90+ weather).CONS:It did break after a week and 2 days of intense use. I made it all the way back home through TSA and everything. Just as I was swinging the bag on to my apt floor, the seams between the zipper and cloth tore all the way through. It got me home at least! Some steps to help increase your bag longivity: Don't just drop your bag on the floor, I didn't drag the bag but I would put it down on rock areas which caused thining and fraying of the bag. Hold the bag by the handle and not grab on the bag. (i just grab the top of the bag and swing it on). Also don't put sharp items at the bottom of the bag. I kept a couple of pens in the bag and they created small holes.-The velcro that holds the bladder straight up can scratch up the fabric and cause small holes. So make sure the rough side is attached to the soft side and not exposed to the bag. Conclusion: I would reconmend this bag for light/ day hikers who won't need to have a ton of things in there and don't need a fancy hikers packpack. (Ex. You go day light hikes and don't carry many things.) If you are looking to invest in something study and long term, I suggest looking for a differen't bag but I still recomend getting the bladder itself.

Perfect for our Grand Canyon trip!
Great costumer service and great buy! We have been searching for a light weight 3L hiking backpack and when I came across Sports Imagery-Hydration Backpack not only did the price work but also seemed like a perfect fit. We received it fast and tried it out that weekend. Perfect weight and tons of storage for our first aid kits, extra water, snacks, and hiking gear. Hubby loved the huge zipped pocket on the front, perfect for keys and other items for easy access. He also liked the way it felt on his back, as it wasn't tight on his broad shoulders. The only thing he wishes it had, the ability for him to strap his trekking polls to the back of the pack (like my Camelbak) as they will not fit in the pack itself. We have had 1 concern- the straps do seem a little flimsy and we had a loose thread on the side... BUT Sports Imagery not only responded to my concerns, they replaced the backpack! WOW! Now we have piece of mind that anytime we have an issue they will jump on it for us. Thank you so much! Our second backpack straps seem stronger and no loose threads. Perfect on our 2nd outing this last weekend where it was tested through 10 miles of hills and streams. For the price ( more than 1/2 off Camelbak) and the excellent customer service, I have to recommend them!

Test your gear immediately!
Beware, the problems are real. If you decide to buy it, make sure you test it immediately! If you receive a bad pack or bladder, return it for a good one. I can recommend this pack, WHEN you get a good one. The first one of these packs I bought was trouble-free. Both the pack and water bladder were of decent quality and lasted more than a year. When it was getting close to its end of life, I ordered another. Believing I'd be receiving the same quality pack, I put it away and waited until I actually retired the first pack. When I went to use the new pack, the bladder significantly leaked around the valve affixed to the bladder, which appears to be a common problem listed in these reviews. I put the still working, identical bladder from the first pack into this new pack and went hiking. During the first use of the new pack, the water bladder compartment's zipper stitching came apart. Because I waited to test the pack and bladder until after the return window closed, I'm left with a useless water bladder and a pack with untrustworthy stitching. That was my fault for not testing it when I got it. I had a good experience with the first pack and was happy. If you test your gear before your return window closes, you should be able to ensure you get a pack you're happy with.
