Tara Wyatt is a master when it comes to steamy chemistry and off the charts sexiness! Brooke has wanted to be a member of the elite police division, HEAT, for a long time and she won't let anything stand in her way, even Sawyer. I was on board with Brooke from the very beginning; she was a fantastic heroine who's outspoken, dedicated, and tough. Of course, this determination also means that Brooke is stubborn and she has a few moments where she let's fear get in the way of finding happiness.As a counterpoint to Brooke's enthusiasm and excitement to be on the team is the more jaded and dented Sawyer who hasn't recovered from his partner's death. Ryan was his best friend and Sawyer wants justice by taking down the local cartel leader, Hernandez, who Sawyer knows -- but can't prove -- killed Ryan. Sawyer was sexy and growly but he also lets his twisted emotions set him on the wrong foot with Brooke. Sawyer doesn't want her as a partner because he can't stop thinking about her, so he tries to get her transferred off of HEAT by implying she's not suited for the job. I wasn't crazy about Sawyer blaming Brooke for his attraction and inability to control himself and I felt that Brooke forgave Sawyer too fast. She comes to understand that he's grieving Ryan and that grief can make a person do stupid things but I guess I'm not as forgiving.To complicate matters even more, Brooke and Sawyer are assigned to investigate a male strip club to find which dancer is selling drugs that may connect back to Hernandez. Now here's where you talk about steamy; my Kindle practically caught on fire in my hands because this book was so sexy. I loved that grumpy Sawyer had this secret, sexy-stripper side to him and it acts as the catalyst that brings Brooke and Sawyer back together. She can't resist him even when she knows she's risking her job by getting involved with her partner. Rounding out the cast, are the other members of the HEAT team, Jack and Amelia and I can't wait to get more about them, as well as Brooke's detective friend.

Right away, I liked the characters and the storyline. But as the book went on, I liked it less; hence, the three stars instead of four. The H&h kept insisting they couldn’t be together, but pretty quickly they succumbed to temptation. I could overlook that, because, well, their getting together is the point of why I read romance. But the substory—who killed Ryan, who was pushing drugs, the strip club undercover—was long and slow and tiresome after a while. The scenes in the strip club seemed right out of magic mike. However, I’m glad I read it. The writing was really good and the sex was handled with skill, heat, and emotion. I def will read more by this author!

Wow !!! What an AWESOME start to a new series! The cover for this book is Hot! This book was explosive and SMOKING HOT, OMG!!! Sawyer is dealing with grief from losing his partner and trying to carry on. Then Brooke shows up as his new partner , who he might have met at night one time, surprise ,surprise !!! Brooke is a Bada$$ ! You have two undercover detectives dealing with being new to the team ( Brooke) and then the other dealing with grief and trying to figure out hoe to find the one responsible for the murder of his partner and a friend !!! This book was PHENOMENAL !!! Loved, Loved this book. Sooo much HEAT, chemistry , and alot of Dirty Dancing !!!! Wow I think there was smoke coming from my Kindle !!!! We have Magic Mike and Channing Tatum for the help for teaching Sawyer some moves LOL !! LOVE IT ! Highly recommend you not miss this book, you will LOVE IT ! How will I ever be able to wait till Nov. for the next book in the series Schooled ( about Jack Ward ) !! That's a very SEXY cover !! Jack is the other partner out of four on the team ! HOT < HOT !!! Thank you Tara Wyatt for this series

4 1/2 STARS!Fast paced, lots of intrigue and sexy, sexy, sexy! I really enjoyed the first book in Tara Wyatt's new Blue HEAT series! The characters were well-developed and easy to like and storyline hooked me from the start. Looking forward to more in the series!Detective Sawyer Matthews is on a mission ... a mission to catch the scum-bag who killed his partner. He's what you'd call "married to the job" and doesn't have a problem with that, but he can't deny when the new detective he's going to be partnered with walks in the room, he's thinking of a lot more than work!Brooke Simmons has just gotten the promotion of a lifetime to become a member of Atlanta's High-Risk Evaluation & Action Team (H.E.A.T.), so her life couldn't be working out better ... until she walks in and finds out her new partner is the man she had a smoking hot one-night stand with! Working with him on a daily basis, and as he's undercover as a male stripper none-the-less, is going to be temptation personified!

This was my first time reading anything by Tara and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hot cop with an alpha attitude (Sawyer) who goes undercover to avenge the death of his best friend and partner. A heroine trying to prove she can be a great cop; she is tough as well as fun and relatable. (Brooke). Loved the chemistry between them, but also liked the rest of their team as well (Jack and Amelia), and that there was a depth to the story. Looking forward to reading the next book!

Exciting and sexy read. Moves along nicely with great descriptions. The characters are well written, nicely fleshed out. The dialogue is realistic and enjoyable,which is important to me in a book. Wyatt does it right.It's not an overly complicated story, but you see it through Sawyer and Brooke's eyes. And as with any good romance, it's not an easy path.I'll definitely read another book by this author.

Great fast paced read. Sexy and intriguing with great characters. Tara Wyatt never disappoints!

Hot, sexy and dramatic. I enjoyed the back story involving the H/h's Detective partners, the drug cartel and the police investigations. Brooke and Sawyer's romance wove through the story perfectly and involved some very steamy scenes with great emotion attached. First it was insta-lust, then their one night stand morphed into something intense over the following weeks as they worked together.The book was sad in places and fun in others, especially when it came to Sawyer having to work as an undercover stripper - thong and all. The romance was brought to a satisfying conclusion and you can read the book as a stand-alone. I assume the following book will continue the back story, which while being wrapped in in some instances, is ongoing. I really want to read some of this author's back list now and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, which will be out later this year. 4.5 stars!!
