If you want to make these in order to sell them don't just wily-nily use whatever comes to mind that might hold water and keep you cool. The actually products that do that are safe--find out what kind of polymer they use. And if you just want them for yourself, why not buy the safe product that already exists? It's probably cheaper than anything you could make them with these crystals. I'd worry that the potassium in this product might be too alkaline and irritate the skin. Why risk it?
