06-02-2023 ___________ Still using it on the same refrigerator. Our power has occasionally been pretty dirty. Over the last two years, Duke Power entered into a long-term powerline program to remove all tree growth. Power outages have diminished significantly.About six weeks ago, we got some of the strongest winds (horizontal rain with two episodes of gravel-sized hail) in recent memory. Eventually, the power went out. But it didn't 'just' go out. For about twenty minutes the power coming into the house was only enough to light the LED emergency lights on the walls. Even the LED lamp bulbs barely flickered. Off-setting that, occasionally, the lights would come fully on for about 60 seconds only to dip back into the severe "browning".As I said, that went on for about twenty minutes. I visualized a powerl ine on the ground somewhere causing that behavior. Eventually, I shut off all the breakers to the appliances. But for the twenty minutes, the Panamax held its ground. No damage to the refrigerator. Has I not had all my other electronics plugged into 'expensive' Cyberpower sine-wave APCs, I'm sure the damage would have been extensive.That storm was the worst (as far as brown-out) as we've ever seen. The Panamax seemed to manage things quite well and no expensive repairs to the electronics of the refrigerator. It's a tad expensive but I can't bring myself to trust any of the off-brand junk coming from China. All-in-all, money well-spent, I think.August 29, 2016 ___________I Use It For The Refrigerator.

Excellent Quality

I purchased this surge protector for the sole purpose of protecting my Jura coffee maker. I have used Panamax surge protectors in other areas of my house and been quite happy with them.I selected this one because it fits nicely behind the coffee machine (see photo), so it is normally completely out of sight.Of course if you really want to protect the electronics in your house, this should be just one of several layers of protection. I would suggest adding a whole-house surge protector, which an electrician can install at your circuit panel. Eaton makes some very affordable units which are sold at Amazon, Home Depot, etc. If you purchase one an electrician should be able to install it in less than two hours. It's nice to have multiple layers of defense against surges: one at the circuit box, and a second (such as this Panamax unit) at each of your important/expensive appliances.

Bought this for my LG refrigerator (Kenmore Elite) because the control board went out and it was costly. In fact the fridge was just over 5 years old and plugged into a cheap surge protector when all sorts of issues began with it icing over - that led to a series of repairs from a new linear compressor, new sensors, new condenser core, to a new control board. So while some of these repairs aren’t due to surges obviously, I just wanted to take an extra step to protect the investment on a $3.5k appliance that I had to sink another $1k of repairs into at the 5 year mark (it would be much higher if not that some of this was warranty work!)The question remains highly debated if a fridge even needs a surge protector and I would agree old fridges did not. But after seeing the control board on these new units, I would say yes, most definitely needed!I’ll likely never know if this unit really helps prolong the life of the appliance but it’s inexpensive enough to take that gamble that it might.

So, we had to return them and find another source which means that we lost valuable time to start watching our new television!!!
