Orchiata is a sustainable growing medium produced from the finest quality, 100% pure New Zealand Pinus radiata bark. Pinus radiata is sourced from renewable, man-made forests ensuring availability into the future. Orchiata can be used directly from the bag. Preferred by award winning growers worldwide, Orchiata offers a variety of benefits. It's pH balanced to eliminate the natural acidity of bark media. Orchiata does not accumulate salts reducing the need for flushing. The bark is aged, not composted, allowing water and nutrients to be held while retaining hard structure and Does not break down minimizing the need for re-potting. Orchiata gives consistent hydration, an ideal wet/dry cycle and provides excellent longevity.

Great product
I am very happy with this growing medium for my orchids. I've read alot about it and decided to try it out myself. Begrow Orchiata is made from 100% New Zealand Pinus radiata bark. It is supposed to last longer than the normal barks used for orchids (pine, fir, etc.). Most barks start breaking down at around 2 yrs and need replacing whereas these are supposed to last up to 5 yrs. Time will tell, but until then, my smaller orchids are very happy with this medium.I purchased the Power mix which is their medium size bark (3/8" - 1/2" or 9-12mm). I would say most of it was on the smaller size rather than the 1/2" (12mm) size.Price point is good and would definitely buy again. Saves me a trip to the garden store.

Liked by lots of pros and experienced hobbyists
Based on my research, I believe as a novice hobbyist that my orchids will do well in this medium. Many experienced growers like Orchiata because it does not break down for years, chemical properties remain stable, allows good aeration, can be used straight out of the bag, or mixed with amendments, discourages pathogens, is sustainably sourced - many reasons. I've not read of many downsides, although lots of knowledgeable people are devoted their own more conventional mixes with which they've long had success. For newbies like me Orchiata seems like a simple, guess-free choice. It's more expensive, but pays for itself by obviating the need to replace it every year or two, and can be stretched out over a large number of plants by adding any of a host of substances. It comes from managed New Zealand forests of Pinus radiata grown and processed for substrate, and quality is known to be consistently high. Renewable, unlike sphagnum moss - love that.Several orchid genera seem to like Orchiata (also marketed as 'Kiwi') and it works for certain other epiphytic plants too.

Excellent Bark
This bark is fantastic. My Phals especially my minis are all starting to grow new roots. They have been in this bark for a month. I will be ordering more when the time comes.

So much better than what the big-box stores carry
This is my second time purchasing this orchid bark. When I had to re-pot my first orchid it was winter and there was nothing to be found in local stores. I really didn't know any different until summer came and I picked up a bag at a local big-box labeled Orchid Coarse Blend. It was like bark shavings, not nuggets, and compacted too much in the pot and little pieces wash away every time I water! What a mess!I take unwanted (past bloom) orchids from my friends who are not interested in the plants anymore so I am always re-potting plants and have learned to dislike any medium that keeps the roots wet. Nugget bark is the way to go for me!

Great product! My orchids love it!
Great product! I have purchased two bags as I have been trying to save some orchids that were badly mistreated. This is a wonderful product, works well and I’m very happy with it as are my orchids. I will be purchasing again

Love this Mix
Used the Besgrow Orchiata Orchid Bark - Power 3/8-1/2 (9-12mm) to repot 6 orchids that were in dire need. One was just sitting on rotted medium for months. I am amazed how much my orchids love this stuff and one bloomed two weeks ago (repotted in September and bloomed in December. Leaves look shiny and healthy. I repotted in clear pots so I can judge when to water by the color of the medium (works for me).

Worked for my NYC orchids
See my orchids in the photos. I have an Oncydium, two Phalaenopsis, and one Dendrobium. I left them in my NYC apartment this past winter for almost two months. A friend would water them once a week. This bark was their protector. Well, for the small phal is was just support underneath the small pot for excess water absorption but the rest needed it for root coverage. While I don’t know a ton about one type of bark vs another I can say this one is a winner for me. I’m part of the Manhattan Orchid Society and am glad the members recommended this brand.
