Shovelling manure may not be the best chore, especially using a standard garden spade. Using this shovel means that I don't have to bend and stood, saving my back. I can also get up a good rhythm so can shovel faster.The angle of the head to the shaft means that you can get the head almost flat without stooping over and the width of the head easily fits into the door of a dalek type compost bin meaning that I now find it easy to empty a dalek through the bottom hatch without having to lift the bin.Pushing the head vertical into the ground places the handle at a forward angle which only needs pulling back to loosen and lift a shovel full of dirt - again saving your back.You do have to relearn how to dig a little and alter your digging style a bit but so far I've managed to adapt and get up to a greater speed than a standard spade or shovel.It won't totally replace my spade but it's a case of having the right tool for the job and at this price it more than worth the money.

What a size, I was not expecting this. It's an excavator on a stick. I dug my allotment plot in record time, no bending, no aching back. The spade bit is massive with a good sturdy shank. If you have a lot of digging to do, buy one of these, excellent price and quick delivery.

The head of the shovel is fine shame about the shaft it snapped with in 10 mins

Absolutely superb. I use this for loading the mixer, General shovelling of loose materials etc. Weight, size and performance first class. Very durable. I use the shovel for work and will be ordering another when this finally wears out. Top marks Silverline.

My husband is Irish and has used this type of shovel many times, but had not owned one for some time, so he thought he would get one for the allotment. The delivery was very good, but he has had to cut the head down as the weight if it made it so it was to heavy to lift with soil on it. or maybe he is just getting old.

Great shovel with long strong handle, particularly good for digging up shrubs etc. The shape of the shovel makes it easier to push into the ground

Nothing wrong with the shovel, but didn't quite realise how big it was and I'd bought it for my mum who is 5'3. The shovel was longer than she was. Did have some issues sending it back though. But it was all ok in the end.
